(Minghui.org) My vision began to get blurry three years ago when I was 54 years old. I felt like I needed to wear reading glasses. Some local practitioners read the Fa with reading glasses. When I mentioned that I might soon need them, Jing said, “You are a Falun Dafa practitioner. You shouldn’t need reading glasses like an ordinary person.”
I didn’t say anything. I knew that I shouldn’t think that I had trouble with my eyesight. However, my human notion took the upper hand. I was anxious because I couldn’t see well when I read Master's teachings.
When I returned home I read what Master said about the celestial eye,
“So some people have formed a rigid concept, and think that only the things they see through their eyes are tangible and real, and they don’t believe in what they don’t see. In the past people always took these people to have poor comprehension. Some people can’t explain why that’s poor comprehension. “He doesn’t believe in what he doesn’t see. That’s perfectly reasonable.” But, when you look at it from a slightly higher level, it’s not reasonable.” (The Second Talk, Zhuan Falun)
The words “have poor comprehension” shook me. After pondering the issue, I realized that I should measure myself with the criteria of the Fa instead of relying on the “tangible and real.” However, I only understood the part about the Fa’s ability to improve one’s physical health but didn’t put any emphasis on improving my xinxing or letting go of my attachments. This was a loophole in my cultivation. My vision was clear sometimes but other times it was blurry.
I worked a lot in the fields during the hot summer days this year and I sweated a lot. My vision became seriously blurry one day when I read the teachings with other practitioners. I put on a practitioner’s reading glasses without thinking, but they didn’t help. I took them off.
Jing asked me, “Are you trying to rely on reading glasses again?” She shared her understanding, “In other dimensions everything is alive. If you rely on it, it will try to control you. How about changing your notion with the principles of Dafa?” I asked her how.
Jing quoted Master’s words: “Dafa can rectify any abnormal condition.” (Teachings at the Conference in the Eastern U.S.) I was just about to argue with her when I realized that my attitude didn’t come from my true self. My true self wanted to let go of attachments and cultivate well.
I started looking within. I realized that nothing that practitioners experience is accidental. Master must have been trying to tell me what to do through the other practitioner's words.
After I had this enlightenment, I thanked Master for his compassionate care from the bottom of my heart. I also thanked the other practitioner for giving me an environment to improve.
The experience gave me a better understanding of what Master wrote in his poem “Tempering the Will:” “Let joy be found in hardship.” (Hong Yin)
Any physical discomfort or hardship we experience is a reminder for us to improve our xinxing, to dissolve our karma, and to convert karma into virtue. It alerts us not to indulge in worldly things. We are here to return to our true home following Master’s guidance.
My vision has now returned to normal, but I still have attachments to comfort and selfishness, and various concerns when I clarify the truth to people. However, I have the confidence that I will assimilate to the Fa according to Dafa’s principles and catch up with the pace of Fa-rectification.
