Shandong Teacher Detained Incommunicado, Students Long for His Return

(Minghui.org) A 36-year-old teacher in Jinan City, Shandong Province, has been held incommunicado since his arrest on October 4, 2022 for practicing Falun Gong. His students said they miss their warm and caring teacher very much, and long for his return.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Xu was first arrested in April 2022 for distributing QR codes to access anti-Internet censorship software, and given six months of house arrest. When the six-month house arrest was about to expire, the police took him back into custody on October 4. 

The police cuffed and heavily shackled Mr. Xu. They collected a blood sample and threatened to kill him. He accidentally hit one officer’s little finger and they accused him of attacking the police and threatened him with a heavy prison term.

During the two months that Mr. Xu was away, his students missed him very much. They said that he was different from other teachers, because most teachers rarely taught them anything during class and never stayed for questions after class, Mr. Xu always tried to teach the students as much knowledge as he could. He came early and stayed late after class to answer the students’ questions. 

When he moved to another school years ago, a student transferred there to still have him as a teacher. The student said he would never meet such a good teacher anywhere else.

Mr. Xu graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in July 2010. He was regarded highly by his teachers and classmates because he worked hard and earned many awards and scholarships at school.

Only a year after he graduated, the then 25-year-old was arrested in Beijing on June 17, 2011, and sentenced to eight years by the Chaoyang District Court. He was transferred to Tailai Prison in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, on December 26, 2012. He was tortured in prison.

Mr. Xu moved to Shandong Province after he was released in 2019, only to be arrested three years later. He is now detained incommunicado.
