Additional Persecution News from China – November 21, 2022 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Yunjie Faces Trial

Ms. Yang Yunjie was arrested by officers from the Chongqing Road Police Station in the Chaoyang District on July 4, 2022. She has been detained in the No.4 Detention Center of Changchun City for over four months. She was scheduled to be tried in the detention center by the Kuancheng District Court on November 21, 2022. Her family members are not allowed to attend the trial.

2. [Huimin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yuhua Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wang Yuhua was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station and the county 610 Office on February 28, 2022. She has been detained since then. Her family recently learned that she was sentenced to one year in prison by the county court in October 2022.

3. [Beijing] The Case Against Ms. Xu Jianping Submitted to the Procuratorate

Ms. Xu Jianping from Daxing District was arrested in September 2022 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She has been detained in the Fengtai Detention Center. Her home was ransacked. Her case has been submitted to the procuratorate. She is now officially arrested. 

4. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Shuwen Harassed

Mr. Zhang Shuwen lives in the Zhangjiayang Village, Tanfang Town, Qingzhou City. He was harassed at home by officers from the Tanfang Town Police Station at noon, on September 29, 2022. The police broke in and ransacked his home. They even tore apart the ceiling. They confiscated computers including his son’s computer.

5. [Shanghai] Ms. Xu Fengqing Harassed

During the CCP’s 20th Congress, many practitioners in Shanghai were under surveillance, followed and harassed. Ms. Xu Fengqing from Yangpu District was placed under residential surveillance from October 15 to 25, 2022. She was monitored and followed. Policeman Dai Shengrui went to her home to harass her three times, on September 29, October 15, and October 26, 2022.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lu Chunyu Persecuted

Ms. Lu Chunyu was transferred from the Dalian Detention Center to the No.12 Ward, No.1 Liaoning Woman’s Prison on November 16, 2022. When she contracted scabies during her detention, she was isolated for treatment. Her family was not allowed to visit her.

7. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Yuanqing Arrested

Ms. Chen Yuanqing was arrested at a farmer’s market by officers from the Xuanwu Police Station in Kaijiang Town, Zhongjiang County on the morning of November 9, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated 13 USD drives, Falun Gong books and over 2000 yuan in cash. Ms. Chen was taken to the police station for interrogation. She was placed under 10-day administrative detention and taken to the county hospital for a physical examination. She was released later that evening.

8. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Xiaoling Arrested

When Ms. He Xiaoling talked to officers at the Luxin Police Station about Falun Gong on the afternoon of November 2, 2022, she was arrested and taken to the Suji Town Police Station. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, two posters which had the Falun symbol, one laptop, five media players, and nine desktop calendars. Ms. He was placed under residential surveillance and was released that night.

9. [Wuhu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Chen Daoyu and Ms. Huang Guilan Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Chen Daoyu and Ms. Huang Guilan were persecuted in a brainwashing center from August to September 2022. 

Because Ms. Chen Daoyu was imprisoned in the Anhui Province Women’s Prison for 20 months, her workplace was informed by the city social security bureau to retrieve the pension she received during her detention—about 100,000 yuan. Now, Ms. Chen only has a subsistence allowance.

10. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhang Yibo Persecuted During Her Detention

Ms. Zhang Yibo has been arrested and detained in the Changning District Detention Center for over a year. She had a lump in her chest for several months. Her lawyer and her family requested to have it examined but their request was rejected. She was later diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery on October 25, 2022. Her request to be bailed out was denied. She was pressured to sign the three statements. She was threatened and told she would be sentenced severely if she refused.

11. [Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Several practitioners were harassed by police recently. Ms. Zhang and Tang (gender unknown) were harassed at home and were pressured to sign guarantee statements and have their photos taken. Jiang Weiping (gender unknown) was also harassed at home by police.

12. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Gong Xiaolan Arrested 

Ms. Gong Xiaolan from Liuhe Town in Qichun County, was reported to police for distributing a truth-clarifying brochure. She was arrested by the town’s police officers on November 15, 2022. When Ms. Gong’s sister went to see her in the police station, she found that Ms. Gong’s mouth was swollen from the police beating.

13. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Zhou Ying Arrested Again

Ms. Zhou Ying, 64, and Ms. Ji Wei, 56, were arrested by two officers from the Taijiahe Police Station on the afternoon of October 3, 2022 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Ms. Zhou was placed under 12-day administrative detention. Because of the pandemic, she was later placed under residential surveillance. Ms. Ji Wei was taken to the Kunming Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Zhou Ying was arrested again by officers from the Dianchi National Tourism and Resort District Police Department on the afternoon of November 17, 2022. She is now quarantined in a hotel due to the pandemic and is scheduled to be taken to the Kunming Women’s Detention Center in ten days.

14. [Manzhouli City, Inner Mongolia] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Yu Xiumei, Ms. Miao Jingli and Ms. Ma Yumei, were reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials and were taken to a police station for interrogation. They were released later. 

Four officers including Wu Chang’an ransacked the practitioners’ homes. They confiscated their Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, computer, cellphone, etc. from Ms. Yu Xiumei’s home. They confiscated a media player and a Falun Gong book from Ms. Mao Jingli as well as a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a poster which had a Falun symbol and an amulet from Ms. Ma Yumei’s home.
