(Minghui.org) The family of a Zibo City, Shandong Province, resident recently confirmed that their loved one was sentenced in mid-October 2022 to two years for practicing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Yan Kuihua, 58, has been known in her village for caring for her bedridden mother in her 90s. She was arrested on May 22, 2020, with her sister, Ms. Yan Aiqin, for raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police searched the sisters; collected their fingerprints, footprints, and blood samples; and took their photos. They were restrained in chairs and interrogated for a day. Both of them were released on bail after 15 days.

The two sisters were arrested again on August 24, 2021. After a physical exam, they were taken to the Zhangdian Lockup. Ms. Yan Kuihua was denied admission due to a medical condition and released in the evening. Her sister was detained for ten days and released on September 3.

Several officers showed up at Ms. Yan Kuihua’s tailor shop on November 15, 2021, and arrested her. They then took her home to raid it. Her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and some informational materials were confiscated.

As soon as the police walked out, Ms. Yan locked her front door to prevent the police from coming back. The police secured a ladder, smashed open her door with a rock, and arrested her. She was interrogated until 6:30 p.m. and then released.

Ms. Yan was summoned by the Linzi District Procuratorate for a deposition in late July 2022. She was arrested again on August 12, 2022, and had her Falun Gong books and an out-of-date calendar with information about Falun Gong confiscated. She was transferred to the Zibo City Detention Center on August 16. Her family recently learned that she has been sentenced to two years in mid-October and is still held at the Zibo City Detention Center at the time of writing.
