(Minghui.org) Three Binzhou City, Shandong Province residents were sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Chen (first name unknown) was arrested on May 4, 2021 after being noticed by the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. When she was released on bail due to a physical condition two days later, the police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, printer, and banknotes printed with information about Falun Gong. (Due to strict information censorship in China, many Falun Gong practitioners use creative ways to raise awareness about the persecution, including printing short messages on banknotes.)
Ms. Chen’s daughter, Ms. Wei Jiangmei, was arrested during the raid and held in custody. Around the same time, a third practitioner, Mr. Du Dacun, was also arrested and held at the Binzhou City Detention Center.
Mr. Du, Ms. Wei and Ms. Chen were tried by a local court on December 9, 2021. Ms. Wei and Ms. Chen were each sentenced to one year and six months, with Ms. Chen allowed to serve time outside of prison. Mr. Du was given one year and two months. Further details about their cases aren’t available at the time of writing.
