(Minghui.org) A Beijing resident was sentenced to 4.5 years on December 16, 2021 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liang Shuqing was arrested at home on September 16, 2020. Her computer, printer, Falun Gong books and 600 yuan in banknotes printed with information about Falun Gong were confiscated. Due to strict information censorship, many practitioners use creative ways to raise awareness about their faith, including printing short messages on banknotes.
Because Ms. Liang failed the physical examination required for detention center admission, she was released on bail. On October 15, 2021, three days after the Fangshan District Procuratorate indicted her, she was taken to the local detention center, only to be rejected again due to her poor health.
Police officer Cui Jianghua went to Ms. Liang’s home in early November and forced her to sign the bail release form issued by the Fangshan District Court. She was forced to stand trial on November 16. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. She also testified in her own defense and said that she didn’t violate any law in distributing information about Falun Gong.
The court delivered the verdict to her on December 16. She has appealed the sentence.
