(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 27 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen was reported to police and arrested by officers from the Gaoping District Police Department in Jiangdong Huafu of Gaoping District on the afternoon of February 4, 2021. Her home in the Teacher’s Apartment Building of No. 1 Middle School in Shunqing District was ransacked on February 6, 2021. Ms. Zhang was placed in detention.

It was learned recently that Ms. Zhang was sentenced to two years in prison by the Gaoping District Court around September 2021. She is currently being detained in a prison in Sichuan Province.

2. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yang Wenshu and Ms. Liu Guiqing Persecuted

Ms. Yang Wenshu, 83, and Ms. Liu Guiqing, 80, were reported to police by a student’s parent for talking about Falun Gong on October 14, 2020. They were tracked and arrested by officers from the Hongxinglong Police Department on October 16, 2020. Their homes were ransacked. They were released that evening but have to wear tracking devices on their wrists.

Their cases went through legal procedures before December 21, 2021. The police and staff members from the Procuratorate came to their homes multiple times, to photograph and question them. Both practitioners refused to sign any documents but their family members were pressured to sign on their behalfs.

The cases against them were submitted to the Hongxinglong Court after December 21, 2021. The court staff started to come to their homes. They were told to go to the court, but they refused.

3. [Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wei Bin Faces a Third Hearing

Mr. Wei Bin had two court hearings on November 30 and December 18, 2021. A third hearing was scheduled for December 31, 2021.

4. [Beijing] Ms. Xing Yuqing Arrested

Ms. Xing Yuqing, nearly 80, from the Pinggu District was reported to police for talking about Falun Gong to a student and was arrested by officers from the Binhe Police Station in mid-December 2021. Her home was ransacked. She was released later that day.

5. [Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province] Case Against Ms. Ji Yongqing Submitted to Court

Ms. Ji Yongqing, in her 70s, was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong, and arrested by officers from the Shiqiao Police Station and the Qinghua Police Station in the summer of 2020. She was released on bail pending trial on the same day. The case against her has been submitted to the Zhanqian District Court in Yingkou City.

6. [Kangping County, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Face Trial

Three practitioners, Li Lijie, Fu Lixin, and Wang Haizhou, were scheduled to be tried in the Liaozhong Court at 8:30 a.m. on December 31, 2021.

7. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cai Yuanzhi and Ms. Liu Yongju Harassed

Ms. Cai Yuanzhi from Gexianshan Town has been followed and tracked by police for a long time. She was taken to the Nanyang North Street Sub-district Office by a group of people, and was pressured to sign a guarantee statement. She gave in because her daughter was hospitalized and needed her care.

Ms. Liu Yongju’s son was threatened by village officials Chen Jichun and Lai Weili in Leiyin Village of Tianpeng Town. He was told that his mother would be arrested if she refused to sign a guarantee statement. Ms. Liu’s son took his mother to the village office. He signed the three statements on her behalf and forced her to press her fingerprint on it.

8. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhu Lili Arrested

Ms. Zhu Lili was arrested at home by officers from the Qiancao Town Police Station in Pingyuan County at around 7 a.m. on December 29, 2021.

9. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Shi Yanying and Ms. Bai Xuesong Face Trial

Ms. Shi Yanying and Ms. Bai Xuesong were scheduled to be tried in the Lishan Court at 1:00 a.m. on January 7, 2022.

10. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Shangzhu Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Liu Shanzhu from Yutian County was arrested on May 12, 2021. He was tried in court on September 17, 2021, and later sentenced to three years and two months in prison and fined 8000 yuan. His lawyer learned that Mr. Liu is currently detained in the No. 4 Prison of Jidong.

11. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Cases Against Ms. Niu Guiying and Ms. Wang Chunfeng Submitted to the Court

Ms. Niu Guiying and Ms. Wang Chunfeng from Zhifu District were arrested on April 22, 2020 for distributing truth clarifying materials. They were released on bail pending trial. Their cases were submitted to the Laishan Court on March 16, 2021. The cases were still pending trial on December 29, 2021.

12. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Guo Baojun Dies in Detention Center

After Mr. Guo Baojun died while he was detained, his son received a call from Liu Yong, head of the No. 5 Ward of No. 3 Detention Center, at around 8 a.m. on December 29, 2021. His son wanted to bring Mr. Guo’s body home for burial, but was told that would be impossible. Liu told Mr. Guo’s son that they would do the autopsy in the detention center even without the family’s permission.

13. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Wang Bo Arrested

Wang Bo (gender unknown) and an elderly female practitioner were arrested near North Street a few days ago and were taken to a police station. The elderly practitioner was released later that afternoon. It was recently learned that Wang Bo had also been released.

14. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jiang Shenyu Arrested

Ms. Jiang Shenyu, nearly 70, has a booth in the Huangxuheba Vegetable Market and lives in Dexin Town, Jingyang District. She was arrested by a group of police on the morning of November 8, 2021. Some calendars were found in her electric bike. Her home was ransacked. She was detained for 15 days in the Deyang Detention House.

15. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Ms. Lei Huamei Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Lei Huamei was arrested by officers from the Chengzhong Police Station and the Hecheng District Police Department on November 13, 2020. Two court hearings were held against her on March 16, 2021 and May 10, 2021. She was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 2000 yuan on July 22, 2021. She appealed to the Hauihua Intermediate Court. She was told that the original verdict was upheld in the intermediate court.

16. [Beijing] Wei Chunlian and Chen Shuangfeng Arrested

Wei Chunlian and Chen Shuangfeng (genders unknown) from Yanqing District were arrested on December 21, 2021 when they were distributing truth clarifying materials in Yongning Town. Chen Shuangfeng was released on the same day. Wei Chunlian was placed under 14-day detention.

17. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Cai Xiaoyu Arrested and Detained

Cai Xiaoyu (gender unknown) lives in Chengdong Town, Meixian District and was arrested on December 28, 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Cai was given 15 days of detention and sent to the Yuemei County Detention Center.

18. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Liang Zhuanmei Harassed

Ms. Liang Zhuanmei was harassed at home by officer Geng Zhongping from Yunxing Town, Zuoyun County at around 10:30 p.m. on December 24, 2021 during the “Zero-out Campaign.” Geng videotaped and photographed Ms. Liang and her home while another officer Bai waited downstairs. They did not leave until midnight.

Ms. Liang’s husband was harassed by five police officers at his workplace in early July 2021.

19. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhao Lianrong Arrested

Ms. Zhao Lianrong was arrested by officers from the Nancao Police Station and the Erqi Police Department around December 28, 2021.

20. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Xiaoming Arrested

Ms. Zheng Xiaoming was arrested.
