(Minghui.org) A Changchun City, Jilin Province resident was sentenced on December 15, 2021, for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Cui Weiwei was arrested on November 9, 2020, by officers from the Xingfuxiang Police Station. The police confiscated her laptop, her husband’s work printer, 200,000 yuan in cash and other belongings. When the family later sought the return of the confiscated money, the police refused and only returned her son’s cellphone.
The Chaoyang District Court held two secret hearings, on May 14 and September 5, 2021, respectively, without informing Ms. Cui’s family. She refused to plead guilty and maintained that she didn’t violate any law in practicing Falun Gong.
The presiding judge, Chen Xiaojing, sentenced Ms. Cui to three years with a 10,000-yuan fine on December 15. She has appealed the verdict and is still held at the Changchun City No.4 Detention Center at the time of writing.
