(Minghui.org) Ms. Pan Jing of Dandong City, Liaoning Province, was hosting a birthday party for her 89-year-old mother on September 3, 2021, when a group of police officers suddenly broke in and arrested her and her four guests.
The police later revealed to Ms. Pan’s family that she was reported a month ago for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. The four guests arrested at her home were also Falun Gong practitioners from the same province, including Mr. Wang Zhe and his sister Ms. Wang Yu of Dandong and Ms. Guo Shujie and Ms. Hou of Shenyang.
The police ransacked Ms. Pan’s residence. They also moved her bedridden mother to the floor and then searched under the mattress. Ms. Pan’s printer, computer, Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and informational materials were confiscated. Mr. Wang and Ms. Wang’s homes were also searched. Mr. Wang’s two printers, one computer, Falun Gong books, and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, as well as Ms. Wang’s Falun Gong books and an mp3 player, were confiscated.
The five practitioners were first taken to the Toudao Police Station. Mr. Wang and Ms. Wang were then transferred to the Maodaoshan Police Station. Ms. Guo and Ms. Hou were taken to the Zhanqian Police Station. Ms. Pan’s four guests were later released and she remains detained at Dandong Detention Center.
Past Persecution
Ms. Pan took up Falun Gong in April 1999. She credits the practice for curing her ailments and enabling her to become more considerate of others.
For upholding her faith in the face of the persecution, she was previously arrested seven times and served two labor camp terms.
While she was serving time at the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, the guards tied up her legs in double-crossed position and cuffed her arms behind her back. They left her tied up for an entire night and she almost fainted from the excruciating pain. When the guards finally loosened the rope the next morning, she had blisters of the size of duck eggs. Her legs and arms remained numb and she was unable to take care of herself for a long time. Her toes were also injured and disabled ever since.
Despite her injuries, the guards still instigated the inmates to monitor her and deprived her of sleep for two weeks. She fell into a delirious state and almost suffered a mental breakdown. She later started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. When she was suffering heart and kidney failure, the guards forced her family to pay 6,000 yuan before releasing her.
Ms. Pan was also held in a psychiatric hospital once. She was forced to watch the insane actions by the mental patients and take drugs that damaged her nervous system. The doctor also attempted to force her to take a drug that would cause her to lose her memory, but later relented with strong protest from her husband.
