(Minghui.org) A 70-year-old man in Fushun City, Liaoning Province was arrested on March 12, 2020, for talking to people outside of a middle school about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. Due to the pandemic, the police didn’t keep Mr. Luo Chungui in custody and released him.
Since then, the police have kept coming back to harass Mr. Luo. They also submitted his case to the Wanghua DistrictProcuratorate, which indicted him later on.
To avoid persecution, Mr. Luo lived away from home. The police then harassed his son in an attempt to find out his whereabouts.
Mr. Luo was recorded by a surveillance camera at a market and was arrested by officers of the Jianshe Police Station in late June 2021.
He was secretly tried by the Wanghua District Court and sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. He is now held at the Fushun City Detention Center.
