(Minghui.org) A Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province resident recently saw her appeal against a four-year term for practicing Falun Gong rejected.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wei Meitian, 35, began to practice Falun Gong in the spring of 2007, when she was still working at a gas station. The gas station often had small gifts to give out to the customers. Living by Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Ms. Wei stopped taking home the gifts like her coworkers did. The practice also enabled her to provide better service to her customers, many of whom had good reviews of her.

Compelled to raise awareness about the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Wei distributed informational materials about Falun Gong in her spare time. She was arrested in the summer of 2012 after being seen by the police. The police initially planned to take her to the Qingyuan Detention Center, which, however, refused to accept her. She was released two days later.

Ms. Wei was arrested again on December 9, 2015. She was held at a brainwashing center for four months and released on March 11, 2016.

Her latest arrest was on May 9, 2020 by officers from the Huadu District Domestic Security Office and the Xinhua Police Station. She was sentenced to four years in the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison and fined 5,000 yuan by the Liwan District Court in late 2020. The Guangzhou City Intermediate Court rejected her appeal and ruled to uphold the original verdict on February 26, 2021.
