Edinburgh, Scotland: Local Residents Condemn CCP’s 22-year-long Persecution during Signature Drive

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a truth-clarification activity in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland on July 24, 2021, in the Meadows, a large public park. Practitioners set up display boards with information about Falun Dafa and demonstrated the 5 sets of graceful exercises. They hung up banners that called for an end to the live organ harvesting and collected signatures on a petition to end the 22-year-long persecution of Falun Dafa in China. Many people were out enjoying the warm and sunny weather, and stopped by to learn about the event and sign the petition.　　

Practitioners in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, held an event to raise awareness of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China.

An 86-year-old practitioner traveled from Glasgow to talk to people about the persecution.

A young man from the U.S. stopped by and said he was attending university in Edinburgh. Initially, he hurried past practitioners, telling them that he was in a hurry and would come back later to sign the petition. He soon returned and said that he knew that the CCP’s trampling on human rights was very bad but he did not know much about the persecution of Falun Dafa. After talking with a practitioner, he said he understood and thanked the practitioner for giving him the chance to do such a positive thing, to help end the CCP’s criminal acts. He was very interested in learning more about the practice of Falun Dafa and took several flyers and brochures.

An international student from the U.S. signed the petition to call for an end to the persecution. He said he hoped to learn more about Falun Dafa.

A middle-aged couple passed by and immediately signed the petition. When a practitioner asked if they had any questions, the wife replied that both of them were involved in human rights but they did not know a lot about the persecution.

The practitioner told them that in 2016, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 343, calling on the CCP to immediately stop the forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience such as Falun Dafa practitioners. In 2019, the International Independent People’s Tribunal pronounced the following in London: That live organ harvesting on prisoners of conscience by China (CCP) has existed for many years and it is still happening now. Falun Dafa practitioners are the main source for these organs. England’s House of Lords is also currently taking action in regards to this matter.

The couple thanked practitioners for telling people about the persecution so that more people will know what is happening in China.

A man who said he practiced qigong and yoga told a practitioner that he'd heard about Falun Dafa before but he did not know the seriousness of the persecution and the live organ harvesting. After talking with the practitioner, he signed the petition and said that he would tell more people about the situation and ask them to sign the petition.

Another man stopped and signed the petition to end to the persecution. He said that he has friends in Hong Kong and he knows about the situation there where the people are deprived of their freedom. He does not like the CCP. He also said that if practitioners held similar activities he would like to participate and help more people know about the criminal acts of the CCP.
