Additional Persecution News from China – August 2, 2021 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Luo Libin Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison

1. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Luo Libin Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison

Mr. Luo Libin was tried in court on July 27, 2021 and sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

2. [Beijing] Second Hearing Held against Ms. Wang Lei

Ms. Wang Lei from Xicheng District was arrested by officers in the Xicheng District in May 2020. The first hearing against her was held in the Xicheng District Court on May 25, 2021. Ms. Wang was tried again in the Xicheng District Court at 2:30 p.m. on July 30, 2021. The verdict was not pronounced in court.

3. [Li County, Hebei Province] Zhao Can Arrested and Detained

Zhao Can (gender unknown) from Wujiaying Village of Guogan Town, Li County, was arrested at his/her workplace by officers from the Jin County in Xingtai City on July 15, 2021. Zhao was detained for 15 days in the detention center in Lilu Village of Fenghuang Town, Jin County. Zhao’s family was informed that Zhao would be released on July 30, 2021. However, when they traveled a long way to pick up Zhao, they were informed that Zhao was placed under criminal detention on July 30, 2021.

4. [Tongcheng County, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Hong Haihua, Wang Xinqing, and He Guoao were arrested by officers from the Tongcheng County Domestic Security Division and were taken to the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. Their family members were not notified.

5. [Beijing] Five Practitioners Arrested

Five practitioners from Yanqing District, including Ms. Wu Fangling and Ms. Yang Jingxia, were arrested by officers from the Yongning Police Station in the Yanqing District on June 28, 2021. The case against Ms. Wu Fangling has been submitted to the procuratorate.

6. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Mao Funa and her family members received multiple harassing calls from the local police station in Yatou District from mid-June to July 26, 2021. Ms. Mao was pressured to go to the district police department to sign some documents.

Ms. Zhang Fuling was harassed at home multiple times by officers from the Yongsheng Police Station and staff members from the Qingshan Community Office in early July 2021. She refused to sign a guarantee statement. Her family members finally gave in and signed it on her behalf.

Ms. Lu Xinlan was also harassed by officers from the Yongsheng Police Station in early July 2021.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xu Shuxiang Harassed

Ms. Xu Shuxiang lives in Dong’an Village, Zhoujia Town, Shuangcheng District. She was harassed by officers from the Zhoujia Town Police Station, including Cai Yizhen on July 3, 2021. The officers confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and a media player. They attempted to take away elderly Ms. Xu, but her daughter-in-law stopped them.

The four officers including Cai Yizhen went to harass Ms. Xu again on July 4, 2021. They pressured her to sign a guarantee statement, which she firmly refused. They tried to take her away, but her three sons and three daughters-in-law stopped them.

8. [Hengshan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Meiying Tried in Court

Ms. Wang Meiying from Hengshan County was tried in the Haizhu District Court, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province on April 16, 2021. Her lawyer pleaded not guilty. It has been more than three months since the hearing, but the verdict has not been announced.

9. [Hengshan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Guihua and Liao Xiaoyang Harassed

Several officers from the Hengshan County 610 Office and the Chengguan Police Station went to Ms. Wang Guihua’s home on the morning of June 28, 2021. She was not at home. Her husband (non-practitioner) was forcibly photographed. The officers confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and some Dafa books from Ms. Wang’s home.

Liao Xiaoyang (gender unknown) was harassed at home by officers from the Chengguan Police Station on June 24, 2021. Liao’s family members also received harassing calls from the police.

10. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Sun Yongqin Arrested

Sun Yongqin (gender unknown) was arrested at his/her son’s home in Weifang City by three officers from the Duchang Police Station in Changyi City at noon on May 31, 2021. Sun was first detained in the Changyi City Detention Center and was later transferred to Weifang City Detention Center on June 20, 2021.

11. [Anqing City, Anhui Province] Ms. Shu Yulan Detained in Prison

Ms. Shu Yulan and her elder sister Ms. Shu Yulian were tried in the Taihu Court on March 16, 2021. Ms. Shu Yulan was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, and her sister to one year in prison with one-year probation. Ms. Shu Yulan was denied admission by the detention center due to her high blood pressure. Her term was executed outside of prison.

Her case was later reviewed in the Taihu Court and the verdict to have her term executed outside of prison was canceled. Ms. Shu Yulan was taken to the Anqing Detention Center on July 22, 2021, even though her blood pressure was still high.
