The End of the Play Is In Our Hands

Aug. 12, 2021 |   By a young Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I came across Master’s Fa teaching the other day,

“I often say that humankind is like a play, but whether people can be saved in the end, and if sentient beings can be saved in the Fa-rectification, this is unknown, and not written in the script. All of humankind’s culture, thought, and behavior are for that last scene of suspense, and as for how many lives will be kept, it was not arranged.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)

It caught my eye as if I had never studied it before. I used to think that the whole process of the Fa-rectification was like a play, with everything already laid out, including when it will end and how it will end. I figured everyone would just follow the plot of the play and never thought that how much effort each of us put in or how dedicated we are would have any impact on the outcome. But now, I have realized that the final ending was not arranged in advance.

The outcome of the Fa-rectification depends on what Master ultimately wants, and how well we Dafa disciples do in assisting Master and accomplishing what Master wants. In other words, the ending was left by Master for us, Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples, to write. Yet many practitioners are longing for the Fa-rectification to finish soon and some even look into ordinary people’s prophecies for guidance.

Master taught us:

“...Once the number to save is fulfilledThe evil shall be destroyed all at once.” (“The Kalpa’s End,” Hong Yin III)

Master has also said,

“Disciple: Master previously mentioned that at a minimum over fifty percent of the sentient beings in the mainland should be saved. How does the situation look right now? If we could continue to be diligent and have righteous thoughts, would there be a hope of exceeding that goal? Could we reach sixty to seventy percent?

Master: When the gods at each level saw the state of things in this world they made certain arrangements, with the result being that at every level the arrangement was that but one out of ten people on the earth would remain. Based on how much you have done so far, the number is not enough. It's not that I want to keep some specific amount. Rather, we should save as many as possible, and at a minimum half should be able to remain; or ideally, it could be seventy or eighty percent. So that's why I have asked you to do your utmost to save them. I know that the majority of the people in this world came from above, which is a scenario different from what the gods saw when they made those arrangements back at the beginning. Had they realized what kind of human beings would be here today, that they would come from higher planes, they would not have dared to set the figure at one out of ten people back then. But as it stands, the evil has arranged things to such an extent, and they are things that no one can retract. So, faced with this kind of evil-wrought impediment, we cannot let up in our efforts to clarify the truth. (“Fa Teaching Given at the Fa Conference Marking the Tenth Anniversary of the Minghui Website’s Founding,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. X)

So how many people do we have to save exactly? Even though more than 380 million Chinese people have quit the Chinese Communist Party and its two junior organizations, the number is barely a quarter of the Chinese population (1.4 billion). Moreover, it took Dafa practitioners more than twenty years to reach this number (380 million). Given that, some fellow practitioners feel that it’d take forever to save another 380 million people.

As I see it, it may be much easier than we thought. Let’s do the math. If 40 million Dafa disciples step forward to clarify the truth, and each of them saves ten more people on average, that’d be 400 million people saved in no time. In fact, it is not as hard and long as we think. The key lies in whether we can step forward and work together to carry out our duties to save the sentient beings. We should not question the situation or complain about it. We should have a sense of urgency and take actions right now. It depends on us. It’s a question that we should in fact ask ourselves.

Master reminded us:

“How could it be okay to not do that when so many people are waiting to be saved?! Even I am helping you do that! Saving non-practitioners is supposed to be your responsibility. [The way it’s supposed to be is that] I save you, and you save them. Now I am even helping you do it, so if you don’t do it, are you a Dafa disciple? How are you going to fare at the end, when accounts are finally settled? At that point it will be too late for crying.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2019 New York Fa Conference”)

A metaphor may help explain my understanding. Saving sentient beings is like going to work. There is a set amount of work to be done in a day, and there is also a pre-set time to leave work. But if most people slacked off, and leisurely and slowly did their job, the workload naturally would not be completed on time. Then how can we leave work at the end of the day without finishing our assignments? Wouldn’t it sound funny if we even asked our boss when we could go home? If we want to go home sooner, we need to hurry up and complete our tasks. Our dedication and devotion will make a difference. It will make an impact on the ending time of the Fa-rectification.

This is my understanding at my current level, and please kindly point out shortcomings.
