Three Liaoning Residents Detained Incommunicado

(Minghui.org) Three Shenyang City, Liaoning Province residents have been detained incommunicado since their arrests on July 22, 2021 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Chen Xinye went to the restaurant where his wife Ms. Chen Lihui worked at around 8:20 p.m. on July 22, to take her home. As soon as he arrived, nearly 30 plainclothes officers broke in and forced the patrons to leave. When restaurant employee Mr. Liu Xianyong tried to resist, the police pushed him to the ground and handcuffed him. Along with Mr. Chen, Mr. Liu, Ms. Chen, and the eleven other restaurant employees who were there were also handcuffed and taken away.

At around the same time, eight plainclothes officers went to Mr. Chen and Ms. Chen’s home and confiscated their Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, three cellphones, and several portable hard drives.

One of the arrested restaurant employees’ family members tracked her cellphone location and saw that they were taken to a hotel in Faku County.

Mr. Chen, Ms. Chen, and Mr. Liu, all of whom are Falun Gong practitioners, were taken back to Shenyang at around noon on July 23, while the other eleven restaurant employees were released. The released employees later told their families that they were interrogated overnight and intimidated by the police. It’s not clear whether any of the eleven employees practice Falun Gong.

An officer from the Xindong Police Station called Ms. Chen’s daughter at 7: 20 p.m. on July 23, and said they had put Ms. Chen under house arrest, but the officer refused to reveal the current status of Mr. Chen or his detention location. Ms. Chen wasn’t allowed to go home to serve “house arrest,” and is being kept at an undisclosed location.

Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Chen, 45, has twice been sentenced to four-year prison terms, in 2008 and 2012. He served time at the Kangjiashan Prison and Benxi Prison respectively.
