(Minghui.org) Ms. Xue Lianxia didn’t return home after she was summoned to the courthouse on the afternoon of June 21, 2021. Her family learned that she has been sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. They suspect that the authorities are planning to send her to prison after the current 14-day quarantine ends.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Xue, a Qingdao City, Shandong Province resident, was reported to police on November 6, 2020 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in a residential area. Officers from the Dazhushan Police Station arrested her on November 11. She was released on bail on the next day after her daughter paid 5,000 yuan in bail bond.

Ms. Xue received a call from the Huangdao District Procuratorate on May 14, 2021 and was told that the police had submitted her case to them. The same prosecutor called her again three days later and summoned her to their office.

Ms. Xue went to the procuratorate at the required time on May 18. The front desk receptionist didn’t allow her to go into their office, but took her to a temporary desk in the garage and asked her to sign a pile of documents. Ms. Xue refused to comply, saying that she hadn't violated any law. A procuratorate supervisor then came and ordered her to sign the documents.

When Ms. Xue tried to clarify to the officials that no law criminalizes Falun Gong in China, they said to her, “Don’t talk to us about such things. It’s the same whether you sign it or not. If you sign it, your term can be reduced by two years.” They asked her again whether she would sign the documents. Ms. Xue still said no. Then they left, and Ms. Xue returned home.

On the next morning, four officers, including the police and residential committee staff members, went to Ms. Xue’s home and tried to persuade her to sign the documents. She continued to explain the facts about Falun Gong and the officers left 10 minutes later.

Ms. Xue was summoned to the Huangdao District Court on June 9. The prosecutor was also present and asked her to sign her case documents again. Ms. Xue still refused to comply. The prosecutor was very angry and asked her to return on the next day. He also said that a court hearing has been scheduled for June 21.

Ms. Xue didn’t return to the court on the next day, nor did she show up on June 21 for the hearing.

Around noontime on June 21, a court staff member called her and shouted at her, “Why didn’t you come to the court in the morning? We’ve asked you several times to sign the documents and you still haven't signed it, what do you want? I’m telling you, you have to come here at 2 in the afternoon and look for judge Yin or judge Ou. If you don’t come, we will come to arrest you.”

Ms. Xue went to the court in the afternoon, only to be taken back into custody by officers of the Dazhushan Police Station. After she refused to sign her arrest warrant, her daughter signed it for her.

Ms. Xue’s family said they learned from an insider that she has been sentenced to three years. The police took her for a physical examination on June 24 and she is now on a 14-day quarantine. They worry that she would be taken to prison to serve time after the quarantine ends.
