Additional Persecution News from China – June 19, 2021 (25 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 52 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Lixin Persecuted During Detention

Ms. Zhang Lixin has been detained in the Fuxin City Detention Center. After she developed symptoms of a cerebral hemorrhage (stroke) she was taken to a hospital in Fuxin City for emergency treatment. 

2. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Ruijun Faces Second Hearing

Ms. Zhang Ruijun was tried on May 12, 2021. There was no verdict, but she was forcefully admitted to the Fujia Detention Center on May 28, 2021, even after she failed the physical examination. 

The second hearing against Ms. Zhang will be held in the Boshan District Court on June 23, 2021. 

3. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Wenxiang Arrested 

The home of 75-year-old Ms. Zhang Wenxiang in Nancai Village of Wuqing District was ransacked on the morning of June 16, 2021. Her computer and printer were confiscated. Ms. Zhang was arrested and taken to the police station that afternoon. The police wanted to send her to a detention center but she did not pass the physical examination because of high blood pressure. Her family was told to pay 10,000 yuan to bail her out. Ms. Zhang was released on bail pending trial. 

4. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Lu Zhixia Harassed

Two officers went to Ms. Lu Zhixia’s home on the morning of June 7, 2021. Ms. Lu was not there. The police questioned her husband and asked whether his wife still practiced Falun Gong. He was also questioned whether he was a practitioner or not. They demanded to know Ms. Lu’s cell phone number.

5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested 

Ms. Li Yanping, Ding Hua (gender unknown), and Mr. Zhang Yanzhong from Mulan County were arrested by officers from the Lidong Township Police Station on June 16, 2021, for distributing truth-clarifying materials. The three practitioners were taken to the Harbin Detention Center on June 17, 2021. 

6. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Jiang Kaiying and Ms. Yan Shuqing Arrested and Detained

Two officers from the Mingzhu Street Police Station went to Jiang Kaiying’s barber and beauty shop on June 16, 2021. After Jiang Kaiying (gender unknown) and Ms. Yan Shuqing refused to sign a guarantee statement, they were arrested. Jiang was placed under 15-day detention; Ms. Yan was placed under 7-day detention. 

7. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zong Huiqing’s Pension Suspended

Ms. Zong Huiqing was arrested on November 27, 2012, and was sentenced to three years in prison on March 13, 2021. She was detained in the Shandong Province Women’s Prison from May 29, 2013, to November 26, 2015. 

Ms. Zong’s pension has been suspended since August 2020. 

8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Wu Baojun Arrested

Wu Baojun (gender unknown) lives in Tianyoufang Village, Fanjiatun Town, Gongzhuling City. Wu was arrested by officers from the Lishu County Police Department around June 15, 2021. 

9. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Zhang Shutang Harassed

Mr. Zhang Shutang was harassed at home on the afternoon of June 16, 2021. Nearly 20 people from the Xigu District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Xigu District Domestic Security Division and Xigu District 610 Office, went to his home. They told him that they were following their superiors' orders and that he must sign a guarantee statement and say some words against Falun Gong. They stayed in his home from around 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. During that period, the police officers ransacked his home. They confiscated two posters. 

10. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Li Yingui Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Li Yingui was taken to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center by people from the Lanzhou City 610 Office and the Jiaojiawan Police Station on the morning of June 15, 2021. He was told that he would not be allowed to leave there until he signed a guarantee statement. Mr. Li started a hunger strike and was released two days later. 

11. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Wang Yu Harassed

Mr. Wang Yu was harassed at home by officers from the Xiaoyaojin Police Station in the Luyang District and the director of the local sub-district office on the morning of June 18, 2021. They pressured Mr. Wang to sign a guarantee statement which he refused. They claimed that Mr. Wang was considered a key figure and they would return. Community staff member Xu Shan secretly tried to photograph him. Mr. Wang stopped Xu and made Xu delete the photos.

12. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Guilan Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Yang Guilan from the Luwangsunjia Village of Shahe Town was taken to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center on June 15, 2021. Before she was taken, she received several calls from a village official who told her to sign a guarantee statement in the village office. She refused to comply. 

It is learned that another female practitioner in Houjia Village of Shahe Town was also taken to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center. 

13. [Baiyin City, Gansu Province] Zhang Youli Arrested

Zhang Youli (gender unknown) was arrested by three officers at the gate of the local residential community where Zhang lives on the afternoon of June 9, 2021. Zhang was seen on surveillance cameras while posting truth-clarifying materials. The police interrogated Zhang for three hours in the police station. Zhang did not cooperate with the police and was released around 7 p.m. that day. 

14. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Duan Yihong Arrested 

Ms. Duan Yihong was arrested by officers from the Railway Police Station on June 2, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong in the railway station. She was detained for five days in the Macheng City Detention House. 

15. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Case Against Ms. Shui Qionghua Submitted to Procuratorate 

Ms. Shui Qionghua from Wenjiang District was arrested by officers from the Jiaolong Police Station on the morning of May 13, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Shuangliu District Detention Center on May 14, 2021. Her case has been submitted to the Shuangliu District Procuratorate.

16. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Hui Faces Court Trial

Ms. Liu Hui will be tried in court on the afternoon of June 22, 2021. 

17. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Zhengru Arrested 

Ms. Yang Zhengru, 57, is a new practitioner in Huangxuzhen Township, Jingyang District. She was arrested around June 16, 2021. 

18. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Shuying and Ms. Li Shuqing Arrested 

Ms. Wang Shuying and Ms. Li Shuqing from Changyang District were caught by surveillance cameras when they distributed truth-clarifying materials. Ms. Wang Shuying was arrested by officers from the Sunhe Township Police Station on May 11, 2021. Her home was ransacked. It is unknown where she is. Ms. Li Shuqing, 79, was arrested by officers from the Sunhe Township Police Station on May 19, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Her Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials were confiscated. She was placed under residential surveillance. 

19. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Junxiu Arrested

Ms. Zhang Junxiu from Chenggu County was arrested by officers from the Chenggu County Domestic Security Division including He Yong on June 18, 2021. 

20. [Qian’an City, Hebei Province] Eight Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Guo Lianjun received two harassing calls from the Chengguan Police Station in May 2021. He was pressured to sign a guarantee statement, which he refused.

Ms. Si Fengmin is a retiree from the Power Bureau. Her husband received a call from the Chengguan Police Station on the morning of May 25, 2021, that requested Ms. Si to sign a statement. Her husband said that Ms. Si was not at home. Two minutes after he hung up the call, the police officers knocked on his door. He refused to let them inside. 

Officers from the Chengguan Police Station went to Ms. Ma Guizhi’s home in the Sanlizhuang Village one day in May 2021. Ms. Ma was not at home. The officers removed the poster and the wall calendar and tried to take them away. Ms. Ma’s husband stopped them. A few days later, four officers went to Ms. Ma’s home again. They tried to get her daughter-in-law’s information, which she refused. However, they found Mr. Li Qingyun's phone number on her phone and called him on the spot. 

Mr. Li Qingyun from the Sanlizhuang Village of Qian’an Town has been harassed multiple times in May 2021. More practitioners have been harassed in May 2021 including Ms. Zhou Xiuxia in the Fenghui Community, Ms. Hao Qingzhi in the Yonghong Community, Ms. Li Yanqi in the Jianshe Village of Qian’an Town, and Ms. Wu Cuiping in the Liuzhizhuang Village of Qian’an Town.

21. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Zhang Dehong Persecuted

Ms. Zhang Dehong lives in Laiwu District, Jinan City. She went to visit her son in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province in February 2021 for Chinese New Year. Ms. Zhang was arrested by several officers from the Baihe Police Station and the Menzhou District Police Department in Ningbo City around 7 a.m. on March 2, 2021. Her son’s home was ransacked. All his Dafa books and a laptop were confiscated. Ms. Zhang was told that she was seen on surveillance cameras when she distributed truth-clarifying materials and that she was followed by police for nearly a month. Ms. Zhang was taken to the police station. The following day she was taken to have a physical examination and was sent to the Ningbo Detention House around 5 p.m. that day. She was detained there for 15 days. 

Ms. Zhang’s husband received four calls from the Laiwu District Police Department, Dawangzhuang Police Station and the Huayuan Police Station on June 8, 2021. He was pressured to take Ms. Zhang back home. These people also went to Ms. Zhang’s home. They said that, since Ms. Zhang’s two children had attended Minghui School in 2005, which was organized by practitioners, the couple had to sign a guarantee statement in order for their names to be removed from the blacklist. 

22. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Li Hongping Harassed Repeatedly

Ms. Li Hongping was harassed by Guo Weihong, director of the Lintao Street Sub-District Officer in July 2020. Before long, she was pressured to sign a guarantee statement by Ma Lijuan and Liu Xiaochun from Jieqian Community. 

Ma Lijuan, director of the Jieqian Community, took 12 photos of Ms. Li in September 2020, which were deleted after Ms. Li strongly protested. Ms. Li told Ma that she was no longer welcome in her home.

Ms. Li was deceived by Ma Lijuan and went to the community office in April 2021. The head of the Lintao Street Police Station was called to come to talk to Ms. Li. Ma Lijuan threatened to send Ms. Li to a brainwashing center if she refused to give up Falun Gong. 

Ma Lijuan invited Ms. Li to drink tea with her and others including the head of the police station in May 2021. Ms. Li did not go. 

Ms. Li started to be harassed repeatedly after May 20, 2021. Four or five people from the Lintao Street Sub-District, led by the director Dou, would go to Ms. Li’s home around 9 p.m. every night. Some knocked on the door and some knocked on the window. Ms. Li refused to let them in. The director Dou threatened to call a locksmith to break her door lock. Ms. Li’s daughter was threatened that she would be implicated if her mother still practiced Falun Gong. 

23. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Harassed or Arrested

Ms. Gao Xiuqing was harassed by officers from the Yanjiang Police Station in Xi’an District on June 10, 2021. Her Dafa books were confiscated. 

An officer from the Yanjiang Police Station harassed a practitioner and their family members via phone calls on June 11, 2021.

Two elderly practitioners were arrested in the No.2 Hailang area by officers from the Yanjiang Police Station on June 17, 2021. Their Dafa books and calendars were confiscated. They may be sent to a detention house. 

24. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Persecuted

Song Jihua has been released on bail pending trial. Zhuang Zuojie was released because of high blood pressure. Yu Baiqing is detained in the Beiguan Police Station. Ji Jinmu is detained in the Zhongyun Police Station. Gao Xiu’e is detained in the Puji Police Station. Huang Yuqiang was sent to the Guodu Detention Center in the Chengyang District on June 3, 2021. 

The family members of Yu Baiqing, Gao Xiu’e, and Ji Jinmu have not received any notices from the police stations. When they went to the police stations to inquire about their family members, they were told to ask at the Domestic Security Division. 

It was recently learned that Ji Jinmu was interrogated in the Domestic Security Division that day and was sent back to the Zhongyun Police Station that night. 

25. [Tianjin] Married Couple Face Huge Fine for Upholding Their Faith

Mr. Li Jingzhong, a taxi driver, and his wife, Ms. Dong Shuxiang, were arrested on August 24, 2018. They were sentenced by the Ninghe District Court to 9 and 7 years in early 2020 respectively. The court is now asking the couple's children to pay the 50,000 yuan fine for them. When the court officials learned that they were unable to afford the heavy fine, they threatened to sell Mr. Li's apartment to pay for it. The couple's children are under tremendous stress due to the persecution.
