(Minghui.org) Two Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia residents were recently sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Wang Jinyu and Mr. Ji Zhongming were arrested on December 31, 2019, by officers from the Songshan District Domestic Security Division. Prior to his arrest, Mr. Ji had been in displacement for over ten years to avoid being persecuted for his faith. The police put him on the wanted list, causing him to have trouble renting an apartment or finding a job.

In order to find Mr. Ji, the police arranged a special agent to pretend to be a Falun Gong practitioner and join a local study group, where they obtained information about Mr. Ji. When arresting him, one officer shouted, “We’ve been looking for you for so many years!” They beat him savagely.

Both Mr. Ji and Mr. Wang were first held at the Songshan District Detention Center, before being transferred to the Harqin Banner Detention Center.

They appeared in the Harqin Banner Court in February 2021. Mr. Wang’s lawyer entered a not guilty plea for him. Mr. Ji defended himself and also entered a not guilty plea.

The judge sentenced Mr. Ji to four years and Mr. Wang to three years in May 2021. They have appealed the verdicts.
