(Minghui.org) Nine Shenyang City, Liaoning Province residents were arrested within two days in May 2021, for practicing Falun Gong. At the time of writing, three practitioners are still detained in the Kangping County Detention Center, and one practitioner’s detention location isn’t clear.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Eight Arrested on May 17
Dr. Chen Zhilei and his wife Ms. Bi Yingzhi were at home on the afternoon of May 17, 2021, when a group of police officers suddenly broke in. The police put black hoods on the couple’s heads and took them to a secret detention location about a one-hour drive from their home. While Ms. Bi has since been released, Dr. Chen is still being held in the undisclosed location.
On the same afternoon, Mr. Li Lijie was driving when he was stopped by officers from the Erniu Police Station. The police then ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books and computer.
Another practitioner, Ms. Chen Yuchun, was arrested on the same day. The police ransacked Ms. Chen’s home. Not finding anything related to Falun Gong, the police later released Ms. Chen.
When the police searched Mr. Fu Lixin’s home, they looked at every item very carefully, including even small slips of paper. All of his Falun Gong books and computer were confiscated.
The other three practitioners who were arrested on May 17 are Mr. Wang Haizhou, Mr. Li Manxin, and his wife Ms. Sun Fenghua.
One Arrested on May 18
A group of plainclothes officers arrested Mr. Huang Jundong on May 18 and searched his home while he was in detention. As they didn’t find any Falun Gong related materials, Mr. Huang was released.
Four Remain in Detention
At the time of writing, Mr. Li Lijie, Mr. Fu, and Mr. Wang are being held at the Kangping County Detention Center, while it is unclear where Dr. Chen is being held. All other practitioners have been released. Mr. Li Manxin was forced to pay 4,000 yuan for his bail release after he failed the physical examination.
It was reported that the arrests were orchestrated by the Shenyang City Domestic Security Office and the Kangping County Police Department. Several local police stations, including the Erniu Police Station, Zhenbei Police Station, and Dongguan Police Station, participated in it.
