Making Calls on the RTC Platform

(Minghui.org) The RTC platform is a website where Falun Dafa practitioners work together to call people in China to tell them about Falun Dafa and the persecution and to encourage them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations.

I began to make calls on the platform last October. Prior to that, I clarified the facts at tourist spots. My journey on this platform started with learning how to use a computer, participating in the training, and eventually talking to people on the calls. I have only managed to do this with fellow practitioners’ encouragement and Master's compassionate guidance. This experience also helped me to grow in my cultivation.

Competitive Mentality

When I used to talk to people at tourist spots, some of them would be rude and disrespectful. I always wanted to argue with them and even went as far as scolding them.

When a fellow practitioner pointed out my lack of compassion and tolerance, I didn’t take it to heart. Sometimes when I looked inward, I knew that I should treat people kindly. But whenever I ran into unreasonable individuals, I was still moved.

After I went to the RTC platform, people whom I ran into behaved even worse. Some swore at me, some said they’d report me to the police, and some even wanted money from me. There were all sorts of scenarios.

I remember one time after a call went through, as soon as I greeted the person on the other end, he began to swear at me. My competitive mentality was immediately triggered and I fought back.

When we shared our experiences on the calls, other practitioners displayed great compassion toward people on the phone, which helped me see the difference in my cultivation to theirs. I made up my mind to eliminate my competitive mentality.

As soon as a call went through another time, the other party began to swear at me. I wasn’t moved and continued to talk to them about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I then went on to dial the next number. This time, the recipient was polite and receptive to what I said. He was very thankful when I gave him a pseudonym to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). After I hung up, I thanked Master for encouraging me.

Master said,

“Shan is the manifestation of the nature of the universe at different levels and in different dimensions. It is also the fundamental nature of Great Enlightened Beings. Therefore, a cultivator must cultivate Shan and assimilate to the nature of the universe, Zhen-Shan-Ren.” (“A Brief Explanation of Shan,” Essentials for Further Advancement)

From Master’s teaching, I came to understand the importance of being kind. As I focused on my shortcomings, I gradually eliminated my competitive mentality and began to cultivate kindness. Now, when I run into people swearing at me, I can remain unmoved.

Attachment of Pursuit

I noticed that other practitioners on the RTC platform had helped more people quit the CCP than me, making me anxious. The more I was attached to the number of people quitting the CCP, the less success I had. Looking inward, I realized that it came down to my attachment of pursuit.

Master said,

“In truth, the spiritual journey is none other than an ongoing process of learning to let go of the things of this world that we may be attached to.” (The First Talk, Zhuan Falun)

Every time I sent forth righteous thoughts, I always added a thought to ask for Master’s help in bringing people with predestined relationships to me. I stopped being attached to how many people I helped quit the CCP, and put more emphasis on how to better clarify the truth. I learned to speak in a way that people would easily accept and awaken their kindness. With good interactions, people often chose to quit the CCP.

One time, I called a number in the city of Shenzhen. When I greeted the person on the other end, he asked me if I was a Falun Dafa practitioner. I confirmed that I was and proceeded to tell him about Falun Dafa. He listened, and said, “I understand you. I'm on your side!” He also agreed to quit the Party.

I continued, “Sir, you are someone with a conscience. You have chosen a good future for yourself. Buddhas and gods look at people’s hearts. I wish you the best!” He thanked me.

Giving a Chance

Another time, the recipient hung up on me after a minute into the call. I wanted to give him another chance, so I called him again the next day. He picked up the call and I continued to clarify the truth. I talked about the reasons for the current decline in human morality. I told him that 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' are universal values for being a good person. I asked him, “You have listened to me for a while, may I ask if what I said made sense to you?”

He said, “No, it doesn’t! I have to work and lead my life, so I have to follow the CCP.”

I replied, “I can also understand where you're coming from, you know former Chairman Liu Shaoqi [of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress] and other government officials, which one of them didn’t follow the CCP? But look what happened to them. They were all persecuted by the Party. Look at what happened to Zhou Yongkang and Li Dongsheng, who had followed the CCP to persecute Dafa practitioners? They have all been imprisoned. Please think it over. How about I give you a pseudonym to quit the Party to ensure your safety?” He paused for a while, before saying, “Okay.”

He told me why he hung up on me the day before and apologized. I said, “I understand. I don’t blame you. As you're a kind person, it’s Buddhas and gods being compassionate that I came to you.” I also encouraged him to recite the phrase, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He agreed.

There was another person whom I had talked to for 15 minutes. He went from initially saying that he would report me to the police, to eventually being receptive to what I had to say. I wasn’t sure if what I said had touched him, but he was tearful as he told me about his suffering since childhood. His family was so poor that he couldn’t afford to go to school, and he never joined the CCP.

I comforted him by saying, “Young man, please don’t cry. Gods and Buddhas have mercy on you. They sent me to tell you the facts and the principles of being a good person. From now on, if you could sincerely recite the phrase 'Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good' and be a good person, then you might see your fate turn around.” He sincerely thanked me.

This call made me cherish all lives, as well as our environment of the RTC platform even more.

Dafa Practitioners Are the Hope

What moved me most working on the RTC platform was Master’s compassion, Dafa’s wonderfulness, and people's joy after their consciences were awakened. I truly came to feel Master compassion for everyone, and His extending the period for Fa-rectification time and time again.

Dafa practitioners are the hope for people to be saved. There are still so many in the world waiting to be saved. Only by cultivating ourselves well, can we save more people and be worthy of Master’s immense saving grace.

I’d like to end my sharing with Master’s words:

“When you are clarifying the truth, those that you engage will be people who have varying degrees of good and evil in them. But, though good and evil do co-exist in this world, shan is what should protect and ensure human society. Mankind may lack principles that are ultimately right, but it does have a universal state of existence that everyone agrees should be upheld by shan. So as you clarify the truth, you should do so with awareness and rationality. If you, as Dafa disciples, want to effect change in a person when you clarify the truth and want to save him, you must not arouse the negative elements in that person. You must hold to being shan, and only then can you resolve problems that may arise and save that person.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Washington DC International Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. IX)
