(Minghui.org) Ms. Feng Xiaoyun was taken to a brainwashing center on May 27, 2021, because she refused to sign a statement promising to renounce her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The morning before her arrest, Ms. Feng, a Wuhan City, Hubei Province resident, was on her way to take her two children, 4 and 10, to school, when she was blocked at the exit of her apartment building by two staff members from the Ximalu Community Office. One had the surname of Fu (female) and the other Lei (male).
They instructed Ms. Feng, around 47, to sign a statement to renounce her faith in Falun Gong and promise that she would never practice it again. They said that because of the centennial anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party was near, each residence community received orders from higher ups to convert a certain number of Falun Gong practitioners. They said that as long as Ms. Feng signed the statement, they would not harass her again. Ms. Feng refused to comply.
When Ms. Feng and her children arrived home at 5 p.m., a group of officers on the lookout suddenly surrounded her. Some were from the residential committee and others were the police. They asked Ms. Feng to go with them for a brief conversation. Ms. Feng refused as she had to take care of her kids. They then said they would wait after she took her kids back to her apartment.
Ms. Feng sensed that the situation was not right, so she locked the door as soon as she entered her home. As expected, the group of people who initially swarmed her pounded on the door and threatened her over the phone, persisting until late at night. Her kids panicked and were unable to fall asleep out of fear. Ms. Feng’s neighbors were also affected by the noise. Ms. Feng had no choice but to call the perpetrators and give in to their request for a conversation the next day. Only then did they stop.
Ms. Feng thought they were gone. She looked out her window and saw that there were people guarding the front and back of the building. Later she discovered that they had turned off the water in her home.
The next morning when Ms. Feng tried to open the door, she found that it had been nailed shut with wooden sticks. The perpetrators told her they would her children to school. Ms. Feng refused to let them do that and insisted that she would take her kids to school on her bike as usual. But the officers wouldn’t let her.
Ms. Feng and her children were forced to walk to school. Fu and Lei, the two community personnel, as well as a big van, trailed them the entire time. Right after Ms. Feng’s children went inside the elementary school and kindergarten, the personnel immediately surrounded Ms. Feng, shoved her into their van, and drove straight to the Shiqiao Brainwashing Center.
They told Ms. Feng’s family that they had taken Ms. Feng to a legal education center. When her family protested against the persecution, the officers said they didn’t care and they welcomed the family to go ahead and sue them.
The Shiqiao Brainwashing Center is located in a building management station in Jiang’an District. The address is No.7 Shiqiao Small Road. According to a security guard at the gate, inside the station is a yard with a large yellow metal door without any markings. It barricades the interior buildings from the outside world.
