1. [Li County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhu Surong Sentenced to Three Years and 10 Months in Prison
Ms. Zhu Surong was arrested by officers from the Baoxu Township Police Station including Bian Jihui, head of the police station, on October 11, 2019. Her home was ransacked. She was detained in the Baoding Detention Center.
Ms. Zhu was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison by the Gaoyang Court on September 24, 2020. She appealed to the Baoding City Intermediate Court. Her appeal was rejected on December 16, 2020, and the original ruling was upheld.
Ms. Zhu was transferred to the Hebei Province Women’s Prison in Shijiazhuang City on May 18, 2021. Her family was notified by the prison. They are not allowed to visit Ms. Zhu until the isolation period is over and Ms. Zhu is allowed to call home.
2. [Lishui City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Li Jinyu Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
Ms. Li Jinyu from Liandu District went to Beijing to appeal on August 19, 2020. She was picked up as soon as she got off the train and was escorted back to her hometown the same day. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated more than 60,000 yuan in cash from her home and more than 20,000 yuan in cash she was carrying. She was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan on January 18, 2021.
Ms. Li has been arrested and detained multiple times. She was detained for 15 days on July 2, 2004. She was sentenced to two years in prison on October 21, 2016.
3. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qiao Yinglan Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison
Ms. Qiao Yinglan was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested in March 2020. She was fined 1,000 yuan but was allowed to go home because of the pandemic.
Ms. Qiao was arrested at home on October 27, 2020. She was first detained in the Chaoyang Detention House and was then transferred to the Chaoyang Detention Center on November 6, 2020. She was later placed under official arrest by the Lingyuan City Procuratorate and was later sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Lingyuan City Court. She was informed that she would be released on August 26, 2021.
4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Huayu Harassed
Ms. Li Huayu was harassed at home around 5:30 p.m. on May 18, 2021. Several people came to her home and surrounded her in her kitchen while she was cooking dinner. One of them tried to take photo of her. She noticed what they were doing and stopped them. They left after Ms. Li refused to cooperate.
Ms. Li was harassed at home again around 2 p.m. on May 29, 2021. Sang Can and Peng Yong from the comprehensive management office and two other people came to her home. They claimed that 15 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Xindu District and that the arrests were directly coordinated by the Chengdu City Political and Legal Affairs Committee. They told Ms. Li that they would stop coming if she wrote a statement including how she started to practice Falun Gong, stopped talking to people about Falun Gong, and no longer contacted other practitioners.
5. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Jinguo Harassed
Ms. Wang Jinguo and her family member received harassing calls from the Shengli Police Station in the Binhai New District on May 25, 2021. They claimed the leader from Ms. Wang’s husband’s work unit was held in the police station and would continue to be held until Ms. Wang signed the three statements. It was learned that Ms. Wang left home that day. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Wang and her family have been harassed constantly throughout March and April 2021. People from the Shengli Police Station, the comprehensive management office, the Dagang Sub-district, and the local residential committee, came to her home or made harassing calls. Her husband was also pressured and in turn pressured Ms. Wang to sign the “three statements” to renounce Falun Gong.
6. [Tianjin] Ms. Dong Xuejing Arrested and Subjected To Brainwashing
Ms. Dong Xuejing was arrested and taken to the Shengli Police Station on the afternoon of May 25, 2021. Ms. Dong was held in the police station for about 24 hours. She was not allowed to sleep. About 17 people from the police station, the Dagang Street Sub-district, and the Sanchunli Residential Committee, took turns threatening and scolding her.
Several strong male officers tried to force open her fist to press her fingerprint on a blank paper. Ms. Dong strongly resisted. Due to the struggle, her arm muscles were sprained and swollen, and her fingers and ankle joints were swollen and painful. Many paper sheets were wrinkled or torn up and were scattered on the ground.
Ms. Dong’s husband was called in along with other family members. The police claimed that Ms. Dong was reported to the police last year but was not arrested because of the pandemic. They claimed that if she signed a guarantee statement, they would drop the charges.
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Shujie Arrested and Detained
Ms. Zhang Shujie lives in Zhaoshaitun Village, Lanling Town, Shuangcheng District. She was arrested by officers from the Lanling Town Police Station, including Zhang Yong, on the morning of May 28, 2021. The police immediately called the village Party committee secretary to monitor Ms. Zhang’s home. Later they ransacked her home and confiscated two printers and one computer.
Ms. Zhang’s daughter was called to the police station and was extorted out of 10,000 yuan. She was told that Ms. Zhang would be detained for 15 days.
Ms. Zhang was taken for a nucleic acid test on the morning of May 29, 2021. She is currently detained in the No.2 Detention House of Harbin City.
8. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Three Practitioners Harassed
Ms. Yu Chanfang was harassed at home by officer Zhu Taokui from the Donghui Town Police Station in Pingding County on May 15, 2021. Zhu videotaped Ms. Yu.
On May 24, 2021, Officers from the Guanshan Town Police Station in Pingding County came to the residential community where Ms. Li Xifen lives. They left after talking with Ms. Li downstairs.
Li Boasheng was harassed at home by officers from the Donghui Police Station in Pingding County in April 2021. They asked for Li’s cell phone number.
9. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Li Ming Arrested and Detained
Li Ming (gender unknown) has been arrested and detained in the Xieji Police Station in Liangyuan District for more than two months. Further details are unknown.
10. [Chongqing] Three Practitioners Harassed
Several people from the Xipeng Town Police Station and the town government in the Jiulong District came to harass Cao Yingmao on May 25 or 26, 2021. They tore down a photo of Falun Gong's founder and stomped on it. They confiscated a media player. They threatened that Cao’s son and granddaughter's job and schooling would be affected.
These people also harassed practitioners Jiang Fushu and Ren Dongchuan.
11. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Cao Yulian Detained
Ms. Cao Yulian from Yangtian Township in Chicheng County was arrested by officers from the Chicheng County Police Department around 10 a.m. on May 20, 2021. She is detained in the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center.
Ms. Cao was arrested at the same time with Liu Jun and Zhang Yumei on February 13, 2020. She was allowed to be bailed out for medical treatment at that time. Ms. Cao was tried in the Xuanhua County Court on December 15, 2020. No verdict has been announced.
12. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Guo Hongshan Harassed
Three people from the Heping Street Police Station in Haigang District came to harass Mr. Guo Hongshan around 3 p.m., May 26, 2021. They knocked on the door. When no one opened it for them, they called Mr. Guo’s daughter and asked her to come back to open the door. She refused. They called again around 6 p.m.
13. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Xiang Qizong and Chen Wenyi Arrested
Xiang Qizong (gender unknown) from the Paoya area was reported to police for distributing Falun Gong informational materials and was arrested by officers from the Paoya Police Station in 2020. The case was not followed up on since it was during the pandemic.
Xiang Qizong was arrested by officers from the Paoya Police Station on May 13, 2021 and was placed under a 15-day detention. Xiang showed them his certificate of “first-level disability,” which meant detention centers could not legally admit him. However, this information was deliberately hidden. Xiang was detained for 15 days and was released on May 28, 2021.
Chen Wenyi (gender unknown) was reported to police for talking to a person about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Guilin Street Police Station on May 16, 2021. The police ransacked Chen’s home but did not find anything. Later, officers from the Malan Square Police Station and the Shahekou Sub-district Office came to search Chen’s home again on the same day. They also did not find anything. Chen was placed under 15-day detention and was detained in the Jinjia Street Detention House. Chen was released on May 31, 2021.
14. [Tianjin] Jiang Yimin Harassed
Over-70-year-old Jiang Yimin (gender unknown) was taken from home to the Haibin Police Station by three officers around 10 a.m., May 26, 2021. Chen’s family member was called in to the police station half an hour later, but the family member refused to cooperate with the police.
Several officers took turns to persuade Jiang to sign the three statements, which Jiang refused. At last, they covered Jiang’s eyes and forced Jiang to fingerprint the three statements. They also copied the Jiang’s ID card and made Jiang sign it. Jiang was allowed to leave around 1 p.m. that day.
15. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Arrested or Harassed
Feng Shuping and Guo Shue from Tangyuan Town were reported to police for distributing Falun Gong informational materials and arrested by officers from the Tangyuan Police Station in 2020. They were released on the same day because of the pandemic. The case was handled this year. They were placed under 5 days of detention on May 2 and May 12, 2021, respectively.
Li Zilan from Tangyuan Town was arrested by officers from the Tangyuan Town Police Station in the winter of 2019 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Li was released on the same day. However, the case was brought up again. Li was placed under a 5-day detention on May 2, 2021.
Ms. Li Xiuling from Panzhuang Town was arrested by officers from the Panzhuang Town Police Station in September 2020 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released on the same day. Officers from the Panzhuang Town Police Station came to Ms. Li’s home at the end of May 2021 and attempted to put her in detention. Ms. Li was not at home when they came.
16. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Wu Lihua and Jia Zhiqiang Arrested and Detained
Wu Lihua (gender unknown) and Jia Zhiqiang (gender unknown) were reported to police for distributing cards bearing information about Falun Gong and were arrested by officers from the Minzhu Police Station on the morning of May 29, 2021. Their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong's founder, a laptop, informational cards, and paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts from Wu Lihua’s home. A few Dafa books were confiscated from Jia Zhiqiang’s home.
Wu Lihua’s son was summoned to the police station and forced to give a written statement. After both practitioners were taken to have nucleic acid tests and physical examinations, they were taken to a detention center around 11 p.m. that day. Wu Lihua is currently held under criminal detention in the No.2 Detention Center of Harbin City. Jia Zhiqiang was placed under a 15-day administrative detention in the Harbin Detention House.
17. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Ruijun Detained
Ms. Zhang Ruijun was summoned to the Huantai County Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of May 29, 2021. She was placed under official arrest and has not returned home.
Ms. Zhang was released on bail pending trial in early March 2020. She was tried in court on May 12, 2021, but no verdict was announced.
18. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Peng Gaidi Arrested and Detained
Four or five officers from the Zhoucun Township Police Station came to Ms. Peng Gaidi’s home in Futouzhuang Village on May 7, 2021. Even though no one was at home, they still entered the house. One of the officers, Zhao, took a Falun Gong book. They met Ms. Peng in the yard while they were walking out.
Ms. Peng insisted that Zhao return her book. When she tried to get it back, the other officers arrested her. She was taken to the police station and handcuffed to a metal chair. She was taken for a nucleic acid test that afternoon and was then transferred to the police department.
The next day, she was taken to have a physical examination. She was detained in the Dingzhou City Detention House for 15 days. Ms. Peng is now back home.
19. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Helian Arrested
Ms. Zhang Helian was arrested at home around 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on May 2, 2021. Twelve officers came. They arrested her and ransacked her home.
20. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Shuzhen Harassed
Ms. Zhang Shuzhen lives in Yuanzhuang Village, Zhuolu Town, Zhuolu County. Two officers and one village security official came to her home around 11 a.m., May 31, 2021. They told her to sign something, which she refused. They also asked her some questions and tried to take photos of her. Ms. Zhang did not cooperate.
21. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. He Xiaogai Arrested
Ms. He Xiaogai lives in Danian Village, Xiaochen Township, Li County. She was arrested at her home by officers from the Xiaochen Township Police Station and the Li County Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of May 31, 2021. Further details are unknown.
22. [Shenze County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Yingjie Arrested
Two officers from the Liucun Township Police Station and the Shenze Police Department came to Ms. Liu Yingjie’s home to arrest her at noon on May 31, 2021. They chased Ms. Liu for a long distance, grabbed her, and then pushed her down to the ground. When they dragged her away, many villagers witnessed the scene.
23. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Junping Imprisoned
Ms. Wu Junping, 72, was arrested at home on June 6, 2020. She was tried by the Gaoyang Court on December 1, 2020, sentenced to 1.5 years, and fined 5,000 yuan on December 30. She appealed to the Baoding City Intermediate Court, where judge Tian Yinjiao ruled to uphold her original verdict. She was taken to the Hebei Province Women’s Prison on May 18, 2021, and denied family visits.
