(Minghui.org) An 81-year-old woman has become paralyzed after serving 1.5 years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Gao Baorong, of Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, was arrested on August 28, 2019, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books.
The police submitted Ms. Gao’s case to the Jiaoqu Procuratorate in October 2019. She was later sentenced to 1.5 years by the Jiaoqu Court.
Shortly after Ms. Gao was taken to the Shanxi Province Women’s Prison, the guards forced her to take blood pressure pills every day until she was released on February 17, 2021.
It’s recently confirmed that Ms. Gao has become paralyzed in her lower body. But it’s not clear whether her paralysis started while she was in prison or after she was released.
