(Minghui.org) A 62-year-old woman in Yantai City, Shandong Province is suffering severe heart problems and her legs shake uncontrollably, four months after she was arrested for practicing Falun Gong. Despite her medical condition, the police refused to release Ms. Liang Yaomin on bail and attempted to use the bail release to deceive her into writing statements to renounce Falun Gong or pleading guilty for practicing Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Following Ms. Liang’s arrest on January 9, 2021, the police ransacked her clothing store and took away her home keys. They raided her home later on and took away her printer, computer, mobile phone, Falun Gong books and pictures of Falun Gong’s founder. She has been held at the Fushan Detention Center since.
Another seven practitioners were arrested on the same day, including Mr. Zhang Junfeng, Mr. Zhang Jiguo, Mr. Wang Chenggang, Mr. Ji Lixiao, Ms. Cui Weili and Mr. Yu Haiyong and his wife Ms. Wang Xuemei. A kindergarten principal, Ms. Wang Juan, was arrested two days later. It is reported that the Haiyang city government established a “special task force” for the persecution and the Haiyang Domestic Security Office were in charge of executing the arrests.
Ms. Liang’s lawyer and family later submitted an application to release her on bail to seek medical treatment, but the application was rejected by the police, saying it was due to “her bad attitude of not cooperating with the authorities or pleading guilty.”
Taking Up Falun Gong
Before opening a clothing store to make a living, Ms. Liang worked as a trace inspection engineer of Haiyang City Police Department, with the title of a Third-class police supervisor. She was one of the few female investigative officers in the province. She has superb skills and cracked many major and important cases.
Due to long-term stress at work, Ms. Liang suffered a long list of severe ailments, such as heart disease, atrophic gastritis, gallbladder edema, pancreatitis, neuropathic pain, arthritis, and cervical spine hyperplasia.
A friend introduced her to Falun Gong on January 20, 1996, after learning about Falun Gong’s tremendous health benefits. After two weeks of studying the spiritual teachings of Falun Gong and doing its meditative exercises, Ms. Liang’s condition improved. One month later, she'd completely recovered.
Ms. Liang’s miraculous recovery became the big news in the local police system and in Haiyang City. Many people came to learn Falun Gong, including the leaders and their families of the city committee. The head of the Haiyang City police department let her play Falun Gong’s lectures in his office, so as to let more people get to know it.
Persecuted for Upholding Her Faith
Since the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution in July 1999, Ms. Liang has been arrested, detained in a brainwashing class, sent to a psychiatric hospital and forced labor camp, and sentenced for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. She was also fired by the police department.
On July 14, 2007, on her way to deliver food to her mother, Ms. Liang was arrested by agents of the 610 Office. She was later sentenced to four years in Shandong Province Women’s Prison.
Between July 13 and September 27, 2011, she was detained at Linglong Township Brainwashing Center in Zhaoyuan City.
In recent years, the police kept coming back to harass her. In the morning on June 13, 2020, five male plainclothes officers went to Ms. Liang’s clothing store. One person asked if she still practiced Falun Gong, while two people videotaped her. Ms. Liang refused to let them take videos and refused to answer their questions. She also pointed out that their behavior interfered with her business and hoped they did not do that again. They then left.
