(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Shumin’s family is now confused about where she is being imprisoned after being sentenced for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang, a Tianjin resident, was arrested on April 17, 2019, and sentenced to four years by the Ninghe District Court in early September 2020. She appealed to the Tianjin No. 3 Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original verdict on November 9.
It was previously reported that Ms. Wang was taken from the Ninghe District Detention Center to a brainwashing center and held there for two months while waiting for the result of her appeal.
On January 6, 2021, one person who was released from the Ninghe District Detention Center said that Ms. Wang was held at the detention center when she was released.
Then on January 15, 2021, her family was told that Ms. Wang was taken to the Tianjin Women’s Prison.
On March 10, 2021, another person told Ms. Wang’s family that she was taken to the Xiqing Prison and it was estimated that she would be transferred to a regular ward three months later, but that person couldn’t confirm the information.
There have been reports that Xiqing Prison (a male prison) has been holding brainwashing sessions for Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Wang’s family said they don’t know whether she was taken to the Xiqing Prison from the Tianjin Women’s Prison or if it was about the brainwashing session she attended before being imprisoned. As they never received official notification of her whereabouts and both prisons are denying all Falun Gong practitioners’ family visits, they are now very worried about Ms. Wang’s safety.
