Continuing to Awaken People’s Conscience Despite Harassment and Surveillance

(Minghui.org) The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) has persecuted Falun Dafa for more than two decades. Even though this evil chapter in history is about to end, practitioners are still being harassed. I was harassed during this year’s Chinese New Year. This time, instead of quietly enduring the persecution, I took the opportunity to clarify the facts.

When I walked up the stairs to my apartment building around 11:20 a.m. on February 9, 2020, two public officials in red vests followed me. I knew that they were there to harass me.

As I opened the door to the building, they asked, “Are you so-and-so?” I ignored them and closed the door behind me. About five plainclothes officers soon came, drilled into the wall, and then ran downstairs and whispered to each other. Later, two police officers showed up. I sent forth righteous thoughts.

After they left at 12:30 p.m., I went out and saw that they had installed a webcam, and aimed it directly at the door to my apartment.

Stop Going Along with the Persecution

I was very calm. Suddenly I had an idea: I should call the police and report them. I would tell them that I didn’t know who’d installed a webcam in the hallway facing my door, which was illegal. What they did violated my human rights, it was illegal and unconstitutional.

I called the police and asked, “Do you protect the safety of the people in your community?” He said he did.

I said, “Good. I live in a building within your jurisdiction. I want to report that someone installed a webcam in the hallway facing my apartment door. Are you aware of this?” He replied, “No, I didn’t know. Did you see who installed it?” I said, “I don’t know who they were. They weren’t wearing uniforms.”
He said, “When we went to your home, you didn’t open the door; When we called you, you didn’t answer. After we talked about it with the community management office, we installed the security camera for the sake of security.”

I said, “Since it’s for security reasons, then why didn’t you install security cameras outside each apartment in the building? You only installed one facing my door. This is a violation of my human rights. You are responsible for any consequences caused by the installation of that camera. Mind you, I’m recording our conversation right now. At first you didn’t admit it, but now you are telling me you installed the camera because I didn’t open the door for you and I didn’t answer your calls.

“The police always remind us not to open the door to strangers or to take their calls. You knocked on my door twice at 10 p.m. Most people are asleep at that time. Why would you expect me to open the door?” Then he asked if we could meet up and talk about it. I said, “Sure. But you must take that camera down. After the New Year celebrations are over, I’ll treat you to coffee.”

The officer called me later and said, “I talked with the community management committee and we will take the webcam down. Can we meet after the New Year?”

I said, “Since you corrected your mistake, I’ll certainly keep my promise. After the New Year, I’ll treat you to coffee.”

They removed the webcam at 8:40 a.m. on February 11. After the New Year, I invited them for coffee and they came as promised.

Proactively Clarifying the Truth

I told them about how I began to practice Falun Dafa in 1997 and the positive changes I experienced. I explained that I enjoyed good health and never got ill, so I never used the medical insurance or spent a penny on medical expenses. Then I talked about how people who were terminally ill had their illnesses resolved after they began to practice Falun Dafa.

I also told them that after some police officers, including police chiefs and team leaders, learned the truth of Dafa, they changed their attitudes about the practice.

I mentioned the personal account of a police officer in a forced labor camp: Before she became an officer, she worked as an accountant. In 1999, she took the national recruitment exam for civil servants. She passed it and was assigned to be a police officer in a forced labor camp. As part of her job, she did many things to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. At that time, the baby boy she’d tried so hard to conceive for ten months died. Then, her husband divorced her. She remarried and had a daughter.

I told her, for the sake of her child and family, she should never again participate in persecuting practitioners. I explained that our ancestors always believed that good deeds are rewarded, but people who do evil may incur retribution.

I talked about how a local practitioner was persecuted to death, and how the police officers tried to trick his wife into signing paperwork to pay compensation. After she refused, she was detained in a forced labor camp.

Then we discussed the staged Self-Immolation at Tiananmen Square. I said, “Take a look at the way I sit, then look at the way the alleged self-immolator Wang Jindong sat. He was no way a practitioner. Even though his clothes were burned, the Sprite bottle filled with gasoline between his legs was still intact. The CCP orchestrated this hoax and is still using it to deceive more than a billion of us.

“To help people understand why millions worldwide practice Falun Dafa, practitioners from Changchun broadcast the truth about the staged 'self-immolation' incident. They were able to broadcast from both the Changchun and Songyuan TV stations so that people could learn the truth. Afterwards, officers from the Changchun City Police Department arrested more than 5,000 practitioners.

“On that day, they stripped Mr. Liu Haibo, who participated in the broadcast, naked. Then they poured water on him and shocked him with 12 electric batons. One officer even inserted an electric baton into Liu Haibo’s anus and caused his death. Just for trying to tell people the truth, untold numbers of practitioners have been illegally detained. They are held in detention centers, brainwashing centers, forced labor camps, prisons, and even psychiatric hospitals.”

I pointed out articles 99 and 100 of the Department of Press and Publication No. 50 repeal the prohibition of the distribution of Falun Dafa publications. I said, “If you don’t believe me, you can verify what I just told you online.

“You are CCP members. When you joined the Party, didn’t you swear to give your lives to communism? Karl Marx introduced communism to Europe. The first sentence of Marx’s Communist Manifesto is: ‘A ghost, the ghost of communism, roams Europe.’

“Communism was introduced in Europe more than a hundred years ago. You are the sons and daughters of China—how can you fight for this ghost for the rest of your lives?”

They said, “It’s almost lunchtime. Let’s wrap up for now. We’ll chat another time.”

After we parted, I had the following thought: “May the truth of Falun Dafa dissolve whatever is preventing them from understanding the truth and being saved.”
