Additional Persecution News from China – March 14, 2021 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Wudalianchi City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Arrested 

A large-scale arrest occurred in Zhanhe, Wudalianchi City on March 12, 2021. Four practitioners including Ms. Zhang Zhaohong, Mr. Zhao Baodong, Mr. Lu Guangdong, and Ms. Xia Xiuzhi, were arrested. It is said that more practitioners including Ms. Wang Guizhi were also arrested. 

The practitioners were detained in the local detention center. Ms. Zhang Zhaohong has been released but the others’ situations are unknown.

2. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested and Detained

Four practitioners from Hongtou Mountain in Qingyuan County, including Shi Hongxiang (gender unknown), Mr. Zhu Qinghua, Ms. Lin Guilan, and Ms. Yang Xiaozhi, were arrested in Huangqizhai Town, Kaiyuan County of Tieling City by local officers on March 10, 2021 for distributing the informational materials about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked by officers from the Hongtou Mountain Police Station on the afternoon of March 11, 2021. The four practitioners were taken to the Tieling City Detention Center and were placed under 15-day detention. 

The next day, on the afternoon of March 12, 2021, officers from the Huangqizhai Police Station ransacked the homes of four practitioners again. There was no one at home when they came to Ms. Yang Xiaozhi’s home. They forcefully unlocked the door and entered her home. 

3. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Li Dexiang Harassed

Ms. Li Dexiang was told by local community staff members in September 2020 to sign a guarantee statement promising to renounce Falun Gong. She did not cooperate. After a while, four or five officers from the Jinchang City Domestic Security Division came to her home. They did not show any IDs and searched her home. They left after they did not find anything. 

4. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Seven Practitioners Harassed or Arrested

Before and during the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Two Sessions, four practitioners including Ms. Zhang Xiuhua, Mr. Liu Hongjun, Ms. Fu Shuyuan, and Ms. Zhang Shufeng from Jiuxiang Village, were harassed. 

Three practitioners, Wang Jinhua, Wang Jinfeng, and Wang Jinwei from Zhangjianqiao Village in the Shengcheng Sub-district were arrested on March 8, 2021. Their homes were ransacked. They were released the same day. 

5. [Linquan County, Anhui Province] Han Kanchang Arrested

Han Kanchang (gender unknown) was harassed at home in Miaocha Town by people from the local police station and the town Political and Legal Affairs Committee. They ransacked Han’s home and took away Zhuan Falun, a photo of Falun Gong's founder, and copies of Minghui Weekly. Han was taken to the police station for interrogation and was released the same day. 

6. [Guidong County, Hunan Province] 19 Practitioners Arrested

Nineteen practitioners from Datang Town, Zhaiqian Town, Pule Town and Shatian Town were reading the Falun Gong teachings together when several police officers showed up around noon on February 2, 2021. The officers violently snatched the Dafa books and various truth-clarifying materials from the practitioners. The practitioners were taken to the Dakuang Police Station, the Shatian Police Station, and the Zhaiqian Police Station for interrogation. They were forced to sign or place their fingerprints on the interrogation transcripts. 

Ms. Wu Yunhua from Datang Town and Huang Cunfei (gender unknown) from Zhaiqian Town suffered home raids. Two media players, twelve USB disks and 88 yuan imprinted with information about Falun Dafa and the persecution were taken away. 

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhao Xiaoyun Harassed Repeatedly

Ms. Zhao Xiaoyun was harassed at home by Zhonghua Community director Yang Jianping, staff member Li Jun and a woman from the Wucun Community around 9 a.m., March 5, 2021. Ms. Zhao was told to sign a guarantee statement and was threatened, “If you don’t sign it, you won't be given much compensation from the house demolishing project and you will not be allowed to live in the current rented house. Your children's and your grandchildren’s future jobs and schooling will be impacted.”

Ms. Zhao was harassed again by the same four people around 10 a.m., on March 11, 2021. They returned to her home again around 3 p.m., on March 12, 2021

8. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lei Xiuxiang Released After Five Years in Prison

Ms. Lei Xiuxiang, 61, was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison in 2016. She has been detained in the Jilin Women’s Prison and suffered greatly during her imprisonment. She was tortured by inmate Wang Kuo who pushed her head into a large bucket filled with water many times. Her hair turned completely white over the course of her incarceration. Ms. Lei was released in early 2021. 

9. [Chongqing] Mr. Pu Yuansheng Arrested

Mr. Pu Yuansheng from Hechuan was arrested at home by officer Ma Jisong from the Tianwen Police Station in Nan’an District on February 2, 2021 and was detained in the Nan’an District Detention Center. Later his case was dismissed by the procuratorate due to lack of evidence. He was released on February 9, 2021. 

After Mr. Pu was released, he was still under police surveillance. He was also recently harassed at home. 

10. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] 85-year-old Ms. Han Guiyun Tried in Court

Ms. Han Guiyun, 85, was a teacher in the Yingkou City Health School. She was tried in the Qian District Court on March 10, 2021 but the verdict has not been announced. She was placed under official arrest and taken to the Yingkou City Detention Center due to the pandemic. But she was denied admission due to symptoms of high blood pressure and vomiting. She has returned home.

11. [Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Jinyun's Lawsuit to Have Her Pension Reinstated Is Rejected

Ms. Wang Jinyun’s pension has been suspended since October 2020 because the Xi’an Pension Insurance Department tried to retrieve 156,731 yuan that was paid to Ms. Wang while she was imprisoned. Ms. Wang submitted a lawsuit on December 28, 2020 to have her pension reinstated. Her lawyer Zhang Lifeng from the Shaanxi Rusen Law Firm made a strong defense during the court hearing that was held in the Xi’an Railway Transportation Court on March 3, 2021. Ms. Wang received the verdict on the afternoon of March 13, 2021 that her claim was rejected because the plaintiff argument “could not be established.”

12. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Xu Zhiqiong, in her 60s, from Yuanshi Village of Mengyang Town, was arrested on the morning of March 9, 2021 by plainclothes officers who secretly followed her. Ms. Xu was tied with a rope and her hand was injured during the struggle.

Ms. Qing Liju in her 40s from Sanwan Village of Mengyang Town and Ms. Fu Shunjiu in her 70s from Yuanshi Village were also arrested by plainclothes officers around 9 a.m., on March 9, 2021, when they were distributing USB disks which had truth-clarifying information. 

Three practitioners were taken to the Mengyang Town Police Station for interrogation. They were body searched. Their shoes were cut open and the buttons and zippers on their clothing was torn off. When they were found to be carrying truth-clarifying materials, their homes were ransacked. Several Dafa books were found in Ms. Fu Shunju’s home. 

Ms. Qing Liju was taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center around 6 p.m., March 10, 2021. Ms. Xu Zhiqiong and Ms. Fu Shunju were released around 7 p.m., March 10, 2021. 

13. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Zhou Bo and Han Zaiping Sentenced

Practitioner Zhou Bo (gender unknown) and Han Zaiping (gender unknown) were arrested by officers from the Kouqian Town Police Station on July 23, 2020 when they distributed truth-clarifying materials in the countryside. Their homes were ransacked. Zhou Bo was later taken to the Jilin Detention Center and Han Zaiping was taken to the Xishan Detention Center in Yongji County. 

It was recently learned that Zhou Bo was sentenced to a three-year prison term with a four-year probation; Han Zaiping was sentenced to a three-year prison term with a five-year probation. Both practitioners have returned home.
