(Minghui.org) A man in Zunhua City, Hebei Province, currently serving time for his faith in Falun Gong has been denied medical parole despite the worrisome symptoms he has developed in prison.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang Shanting was arrested at home on May 4, 2017, by officers from Tianjin. The police confiscated many Falun Gong items from his house. They targeted him after he was reported for putting up Falun Gong posters in Ji County in Tianjin, which is about 50 miles from Zunhua. Police in both Zunhua and Ji County monitored him for a while before arresting him.
Mr. Wang was taken to the Chutouling Town Police Station in Tianjin for interrogation and then transferred to the Ji County Detention Center.
Mr. Wang was sentenced to five years and fined 10,000 yuan in November 2017. When his family recently visited him in Binhai Prison, they were saddened to see the once healthy man now staggers as he walks. He also struggles with worsening vision and constant headaches and dizziness. His family applied for medical parole for him but was turned down.
It’s also reported that Mr. Wang’s pension has been suspended since his arrest.
