(Minghui.org) An 82-year-old woman in Yilong County, Sichuan Province passed away in late December 2020, shortly after the authorities dismissed her case for practicing Falun Gong due to her health condition.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Lin Shoujing was seized by the police in a group arrest on April 25, 2019. Other practitioners arrested on the same day included Ms. Fu Yuqiaong, 65, Ms. Li Suhua, 72, Ms. Guo Qin, 56, and Ms. Yao Chaofang, 64. All of them had their homes ransacked. The police arrested the practitioners after discovering that they were studying Falun Gong teachings together at Ms. Fu’s home.

Ms. Lin was released on bail later that day and the other practitioners were put in criminal detention. Their arrests were approved on May 31, 2019 and they were indicted by the local procuratorate on November 26, 2019.

After months of detention, Ms. Guo, Ms. Fu, Ms. Yao and Ms. Li were released on bail on July 1, 2019, February 27, 2020, April 23, 2020 and June 23, 2020, respectively.

Due to a serious medical condition that Ms. Lin suffered from, the prosecutor dismissed her case. She passed away in late December 2020.

It’s not clear whether the other four practitioners are still facing prosecution.
