(Minghui.org) Throughout civilizations, there has been the belief that good and evil will be rewarded accordingly. In the West, it can be interpreted as “you reap what you sow.” More specifically, if one remains honest and treats others with kindness, he or she will be blessed. Were one to do bad deeds, such as killing or deceiving others with lies, there would be serious consequences down the road.

Not everyone believes in the cause and effect relationship though. There are people who do bad deeds and play with fire for short-term gain. One example is the staged self-immolation incident at Tiananmen Square on January 23, 2001, the eve of the Chinese New Year. Five people set themselves on fire that day, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) quickly broadcast it through all channels, claiming the five people were Falun Gong practitioners who had gone astray by following the practice.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a peaceful meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Eighteen months before the self-immolation incident, former CCP leader Jiang Zemin had launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999, vowing to eradicate Falun Gong in three months. When that didn't happen, Jiang and his accomplices orchestrated the self-immolation incident to incite the nation's hatred towards Falun Gong and further intensify the persecution.

As indicated in the articles published on Minghui in the past few days, the self-immolation incident in January 2001 was a complete hoax, yet the CCP's massive propaganda has misled people both inside and outside of China, who became fearful of and resentful towards Falun Gong.

In the years that followed, tens of millions of practitioners along with their families have been discriminated against for practicing Falun Gong, which had inspired them to strive to be better citizens with a high moral standard. More than 4,000 practitioners have been confirmed to have died as a result of the persecution. Countless Falun Gong practitioners have been harassed, arrested, detained, tortured, or even killed for their organs.

Organ Harvesting: A Horrific Crime

The communist ideology is based on brutality, hatred, and lies. The CCP has launched numerous political movements since it came to power in 1949, often pitting one group of citizens against another or designating certain groups as enemies of the state. The self-immolation, in particular, pushed the suppression of Falun Gong to a new level, such as intensive brainwashing, psychiatric abuse, and forced organ harvesting.

First reported in 2006, state-sanctioned organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners and other dissidents in China has been confirmed by numerous independent investigations.

In an article published in Chinese Minghui on January 17, 2021, one Falun Gong practitioner living outside of China once met a doctor from Huashan Hospital in Shanghai, China. When she talked to the doctor about the persecution of Falun Gong, he said, “I know this [forced organ harvesting] better than you. The CCP killed over 100,000 [Falun Gong practitioners] per year. I feel bad about that and I wish you success [in bringing the crime to an end.]”

This practitioner said she believed the doctor's estimate, because she had called various hospitals and other places to investigate the organ harvesting herself. She said the depth and scale of forced organ harvesting was supported by information that she obtained from other sources.

When she called a retired surgeon from Lanzhou University First Hospital, he said he received a kidney transplant at the Lanzhou University Second Hospital in Gansu Province. He asked about the donor after the operation.

“This kidney came from a 24-year-old man, very healthy,” replied the chief surgeon, “I can only tell you this much.”

This practitioner also called a crematorium worker in Zhejiang Province, who said they would receive military truck loads of stuff for cremation once a month or every two weeks. “Each of them was individually packed in plastic bags, all were intestines,” he explained.

A surgeon in Shaanxi Armed Police Hospital told the practitioner that they often contacted courts and were granted permission to pick prisoners as needed. They'd then go to prisons or other detention facilities to collect blood samples from prisoners. When the time came to do organ transplant, the prisoner who was deemed as a matching donor would be driven to the designated hospital, where several surgeons worked together to extract the organs quickly. This Shaanxi doctor revealed that the organs taken out from the donor were the best if removed within six minutes. He said they sometimes removed organs from eight donors a day.

When asked how the corpses were dealt with, he said, “Sometimes the family was notified that their loved one had died a sudden death and then given the ashes. Sometimes we did not bother doing that or there was no family members on file, we just cremated the body.”

Consequences of Key Perpetrators

The staged self-immolation fueled the persecution of Falun Gong and the horrific organ harvesting has killed an unknown number of Falun Gong practitioners. The perpetrators involved in these crimes are finding themselves paying a price for the harm they did to innocent people.

Li Dongsheng, deputy chief of China Central Television (CCTV, which broadcast the self-immolation incident) and director of 610 Office, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2016 .

Chen Meng, deputy director of CCTV’s News Commentary Department, was in charge of Tell It Like It IsNews Probe, and other programs. By ignoring facts, however, he produced some defamatory videos related to the self-immolation incident. On Christmas Eve in 2008, he died of gastric cancer at age 47.

Luo Jing was a prominent anchor of CCTV news. He denied the Tiananmen Square in 1989, attacked Falun Gong since the persecution started in 1999, and slandered the practice with the self-immolation incident after 2001. After being diagnosed with lymphoma in July 2008, Luo died at 48 on June 5, 2009. When Luo was hospitalized at Peking University Tumor Hospital, his mother had a stroke and was sent to the same hospital.

Fang Jing, an anchorwoman of CCTV, was another key person who spread lies about the self-immolation incident. After gastric cancer spread to her liver, she died at age 44 in November 2015.

Some people may dismiss these cases as purely coincidental, while others may take them as a warning and give a second thought when doing things that harm innocent people. Fame and money come and go, but how we react to it and whether we can follow our conscience truly tell who we are.

Taishang Ganyi Pian (Treatise on Response and Retribution), one of the Taoism classics, wrote:Misfortune and blessings do not come to us without reason, we bring them upon ourselves. The consequences of good and evil deeds are like the shadow, following the body wherever it goes.

From ancient history to modern-day life, there have been countless examples of this kind. A report from Chinese Minghui on February 9, 2019, indicated that over 20,000 CCP officials had met consequences for their involvement in the persecution of Falun Gong. In 2020 alone, five high officials in the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) system, 73 department or bureau level officials, and hundreds of lower officials were arrested. The majority of them had participated in the suppression of Falun Gong.

There is a Chinese saying that “Those who do not plan for the future will find trouble on their doorstep.” We hope more people will position themselves well in the pandemic season, mingled with other chaos. By embracing honesty and kindness, as well as saying “no” to the totalitarian CCP, we will be blessed with long-term safety and prosperity.
