(Minghui.org) A Tangshan City, Hebei Province resident was recently sentenced to three years and two months for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
A dozen officers from the Tangshan Domestic Security Office, the Yutian County Police Department and the Woluogu Town Police Station broke into Mr. Liu Shangzhu’s home at around 6 a.m. on May 12, 2021 and ransacked his place.
Mr. Liu was brought to the Woluogu Town Police Station at 9 a.m. and then transferred to the Yutian County Police Department at around 2 p.m. He was later taken to the Yutian County Detention Center. The police denied him family visits, claiming that family would only be allowed to see him after he was sentenced to prison.
Mr. Liu was transferred to the Zunhua City Detention Center on July 31. His lawyer visited him on August 12. The Zunhua City Court held a two-hour hearing on September 27.
It’s reported that the judge sentenced Mr. Liu to three years and two months around October 29. He was also fined 8,000 yuan.
