Additional Persecution News from China – November 24, 2021 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yu’e Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Ms. Zhang Yu’e from the Linghe District was arrested at the Jinzhou Railway Station on December 20, 2020. She was found to be carrying three Falun Gong books when she traveled to her son’s home in Changchun City. She was released on bail pending trial.

Ms. Zhang was sentenced to one year in prison by the Linghai District Court at the end of October 2021. She is currently detained in the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

2. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhou Chunyu Passed Away Due to Persecution

Ms. Zhou Chunyu was born in 1955 in Meitan County, Guizhou Province. She later lived in the Luyuan Residential Community, Guiyang City. After a practitioner that Ms. Zhou often went shopping with was arrested around Chinese New Year in 2019, police began watching her. Her home was ransacked by officers from the Shanan Police Station in the Nanming District. In her home they found her Falun Gong books and other related items. The sudden raid frightened her family. Afterwards, the police began harassing her and her family. Her home was ransacked four times.

Ms. Zhou’s husband used to be supportive of her practicing Falun Gong. Under the pressure, he changed and beat and scolded her if he saw her doing the exercises or reading the teachings. He also prevented her from seeing other practitioners. Ms. Zhou was depressed and cried a lot. She quickly lost a lot of weight. If another practitioner visited her, she was anxious and afraid of her husband. When a fellow practitioner tried to call her on June 1, 2021 she learned that Ms. Zhou had passed away.

3. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Geng Jianfen and Mr. Yu Zhong Sentenced to Three Years and Four Years in Prison Respectively

Ms. Geng Jianfen and her husband Mr. Yu Zhong were sentenced to three years and four years in prison respectively. The original verdict was upheld in the intermediate court.

4. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xiao Hui Harassed

Ms. Xiao Hui was stopped at the gate of her workplace, Wulipai Middle School by officer Li from the Wulipai Police Station in the Suxian District on November 23, 2021. Officer Li did not show his ID and started to question Ms. Xiao and ask whether she still practiced Falun Gong.

5. [Renqiu City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Fenghua Taken to the Hospital

Ms. Wang Fenghua was detained in the Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison. Due to the epidemic, her family was unable to visit her. They could only phone her and talk to her once a month. It was recently learned that Ms. Wang has been hospitalized for about three months. The details are being investigated.

6. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Xue Caiping Faces Trial

Ms. Xue Caiping was arrested by officers from the Changxing Police Station on March 24, 2021 and was detained in the Tianhe District Detention Center. Her abdomen was bloated and she looked like a 7-8 month pregnant woman. She had a hard time eating anything. Ms. Xue was bailed out for medical treatment. She was in the hospital when a judge had an appointment with her and told her that she would be tried in court around December 2, 2021.

7. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Xu Yaguang Arrested

Xu Yaguang (gender unknown) from Xifu Town, Chengyang District, was reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials and was arrested and taken to the Xifu Town Police Station on the morning of November 22, 2021.

8. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Su Arrested

Ms. Su lives in Jingqi Road and is around 70 years old. She is recently arrested and her home was ransacked.

9. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Li Xinrong and Ms. Zhong Weiling Detained in Prison

Ms. Li Xinrong and Ms. Zhong Weiling have been taken and are detained in the Zhenjiang Women’s Prison.

10. [Beijing] Ms. Gu Xiuying Harassed

Ms. Gu Xiuying, 87, lives in Hufangqiao, Xicheng District. Police officers and staff members from the local neighborhood committee took her to the committee office on November 11, 2021. Several people surrounded her and tried to pressure her, which terrified the old woman. When they found out that her blood pressure measured 222/180, they became scared and hurriedly sent her home.

11. [Huili City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Luo Jiping’s Lawsuit Hearing Scheduled

Ms. Luo Jiping brought a lawsuit against the municipal social security bureau and the municipal human resource bureau for suspending her pension. The hearing for it is scheduled in the Huili City Court at 9 a.m. on November 29, 2021.

12. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Chengzhuo and Ms. Chen Kangju Arrested

Several people from the Tianpeng Town Police Station and the Beita Community called Ms. He Chengzhuo’s husband at his workplace and told him to come home. Afterwards they took Ms. He to a brainwashing center around 1 p.m. on November 22, 2021. They asked her some questions and then pressured her to sign some papers, which Ms. He refused. Her husband was also pressured to persuade her. When this didn’t work, several men entered the room, grabbed Ms. He’s hand and forcefully pressed her fingerprints on three documents.

Ms. He was arrested near the Dongmen Vegetable Market on the morning of November 23, 2021 along with Ms. Chen Kangju. The details are unknown.

13. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Geng Jianxin Taken to a Brainwashing Center

Mr. Geng Jianxin was taken to a brainwashing center in Yangquan City by officers from the Pingding County Domestic Security Division.

14. [Huanggang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zheng Cuiyu Arrested

Ms. Zheng Cuiyu in her 50s was arrested at home by officers from the Macheng City Domestic Security Division on the morning of November 16, 2021. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated. Ms. Zheng was taken to the Huangzhou District Detention Center on the same day. She was told that she was under police surveillance for a while.

15. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guiru Harassed

Several police officers in three police car stopped at Ms. Wang Guiru’s home in Bohai Township of the Economic and Technological Development Zone around 4 p.m. on November 19, 2021. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and other personal belongings. The next evening, three officers came to her home again and asked where she was. Ms. Wang’s husband told them that he did not know and her phone was still at home. On the third day, her husband received two calls from the police station. They asked about Ms. Wang and told her husband to stop by the police station to sign a guarantee statement on behalf of his wife. He did not go.

16. [Gong’an County, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Gongyu Harassed

Several people from the Yeling Community and the Canling Police Station went to Ms. Chen Gongyu’s home at around 9 a.m. on November 23, 2021. They told Ms. Chen that she was recently reported for distributing truth-clarifying materials. If she cooperated and signed a guarantee statement, they would let her go. Ms. Chen refused to sign anything.

17. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Large-scale Harassment of Falun Gong Practitioners

Many practitioners in Hedong District have been harassed since mid-November 2021.

Almost all the practitioners in Yangzhuang residential area, Hedong district were threatened and harassed at their homes by unidentified people. When an elderly practitioner was found to have a media player with the exercise music they were fined 1000 yuan. The people who harassed practitioners were not wearing uniforms and came in a regular car.

Ms. Pan Yuxiu and her husband (non-practitioner) were arrested and taken to the Zhimadun Township Police Station in Hedong District. They were forced to undergo a medical exam. Her husband was released the next day. Ms. Pan was released a few days later and was fined 20,000 yuan. Their home was ransacked and many personal belongings were confiscated including Falun Gong books, a computer, printer, etc.

Many of Ms. Pan’s relatives, who are also practitioners, were harassed and forced to sign some documents.

18. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang Shuxian Harassed

Ms. Yang Shuxian was harassed at home by some government officials in Yuguan Town, Funning District at the beginning of November 2021. She was pressured to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused. These people returned two weeks later. When they saw Ms. Yang reading a Falun Gong book, they called the police. Several officers from the Yuguan Town Police Station came and ransacked her home. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, her media player, USB drive, and some other truth-clarifying materials. They threatened to return.

19. [Qichun County, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Baolian Harassed

Ms. Zhang Baolian is a retired teacher from the No. 5 Elementary School of Qizhou Town. She was harassed at home by the head of local neighborhood committee on March 9, 2021 and was pressured to sign a guarantee statement while being photographed, which she refused.

Ms. Zhang later went to her son’s home in Xiangyang City to take care of her grandson. Four people including one from the Qizhou Police Station, one from the Qizhou Town Government, one from the local neighborhood committee, and one driver, traveled to Xiangyang City and found Ms. Zhang’s son on November 23, 2021. They threatened her son and pressured him to sign a guarantee statement on his mother’s behalf.
