(Minghui.org) A hotel owner in Kangping County, Liaoning Province was sentenced to five years for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Ai Yanjing was first arrested at her hotel on August 29, 2020. Dai Guoqing, the deputy chief of Kangping County Police Department, led a group of officers and searched the hotel. They confiscated Ms. Ai’s personal belongings, as well as the 4,920 yuan deposit made by her hotel guests. Five Falun Gong practitioners who worked at the hotel were also arrested.
All six practitioners were released later that night, and Ms. Ai lived away from home for months to hide from the police. She returned home in October that year, only to be arrested again on the evening of October 29. The police first took her to the Zhennan Police Station and then to the Shengli Police Station, before finally detaining her at the Shenyang City No.1 Detention Center.
The Liaozhong District Procuratorate approved Ms. Ai’s arrest on December 7. The prosecutor also went to the detention center to question her.
