(Minghui.org) I am an elderly Falun Dafa practitioner in China, and I have been cultivating for many years. My cultivation state has become stable after experiencing many tribulations. I’ve realized the importance of compassion when clarifying the truth to people and encouraging them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations.

I often run into young people when I go out to clarify the truth. They often look sloppy, wear weird clothes, smoke, and lack good manners. In the past, they disgusted me and I just thought about how corrupt they must be. I looked down on them when I tried to explain the facts about Falun Dafa to them, so the results were never very good.

I then realized that the CCP deliberately indoctrinates them with bad thoughts, so I needed to be more patient with them and more compassionate and kind to influence them. I adjusted my mentality and tried not to pay attention to their bad habits. I spoke to them with kindness and tried to restrain myself when I saw their bad behavior. When I pointed out where they were lacking, I tried not to sound critical or didactic. I wanted them to realize that I was being truly kind and my intention was truly for their own good. The results were usually much better.

Some young people could sense that I was truly concerned about them. I not only gave them truth-clarification brochures but also software to circumvent the CCP’s internet firewall so that they could gain access to the rest of the world. They were usually interested, which led to better results when I clarified the truth.

Young people may have their problems, but middle-aged people have theirs, too. They are typically selfish, indifferent, and not very kind. In the past, their bad attitudes made me angry when I clarified the truth to them. For example, when I talked about how terrible the CCP was, many people said, “Isn’t everybody like this now?” In their minds, it was natural for the CCP to be evil.

The CCP has done away with all the moral standards in Chinese society today, but those people seem to have agreed to it. I now realize that this situation is an opportunity for me to clarify the truth. Now, whenever I hear this remark, I adjust my mindset and say kindly, “Yes, people’s moral standards are like this now, but wouldn’t it be better if people were not like this?” That usually prompts them to reflect on things and leads to a much better follow-up.

The elderly also have their problems. As my child told me, “When some elderly people are unreasonable, people often say it is not because the elderly are getting bad, but because bad people are getting old.” The CCP’s past political movements, especially the Cultural Revolution, turned those people bad and let them do many bad things. Now those people are getting old but they are still bad. They deceive, berate, and bully others.

The CCP seized power 72 years ago. Many of the elderly today were brainwashed during the CCP’s many political movements. Many were deeply poisoned by the CCP and are stubborn. Actually, they are all victims.

When we clarify the truth to them, if we can recall those political movements and the suffering they endured, we can help most of them understand. Some are filled with fear and say, “You have to be careful! The Party is very bad!” If we can direct the conversation in a more positive direction, they generally will think about it and may understand the truth better.

When we run into well-educated people, we can explain things more thoroughly, such as by asking “Would it be better if there were no Party?” Many have never thought about that before and are shaken by the idea. Some of them will think it over and have a better chance of understanding the truth.

I have been cultivating Falun Dafa for many years and recovered from all my illnesses. I am very grateful to Dafa and Master. I must cultivate more diligently and treat people with the utmost compassion so that I can save more sentient beings.
