(Minghui.org) A 59-year-old man in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province was sentenced to five years, five months after he was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Chen Yan’s latest prison term came only one year after he was released from serving a previous five-year term.
Mr. Chen was arrested on April 23, 2021 after being reported by a child’s grandfather for talking to the child about Falun Gong. The police ransacked his home twice and held him at the Shuangyashan City Detention Center.
Wang Xuchun, prosecutor of Lingdong District Procuratorate, who has approved several of Mr. Chen’s previous arrests, approved his latest arrest again.
Mr. Chen appeared in Lingdong District Court in September 2021 and was sentenced to five years by judge Song Fenghai. His family wasn’t informed of the trial.
In addition to the prison terms, Mr. Chen has also served two labor camp terms for a total of four years.
