(Minghui.org) A woman in Changchun City, Jilin Province, was savagely beaten and interrogated following her arrest for practicing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang Jinghong was arrested on November 17, 2020, while she was visiting another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Wang Hongge. While Ms. Wang Hongge was released the next day after signing a statement to renounce Falun Gong, Ms. Wang Jinghong was held in custody and tortured for ten days.

Below are details of what Ms. Wang Jinghong was subjected to.

Police Violence During Arrest

After arresting Ms. Wang and taking her to the station, eight police officers dragged her to the police vehicle and pushed her in to take her back to search her apartment.

When they weren’t able to open the door with her key, they beat her. Officer Wang Chuang twisted her arms behind her back and stepped on her back. When Ms. Wang shouted, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” in protest, Wang Chuang kicked her in the mouth.

Wang Chuang called a locksmith to get her door open. The officers then ransacked the place. To keep Ms. Wang from talking, Wang Chuang kept his foot on her face during the entire time. They confiscated over 40 of her Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder to be used as evidence to charge her.

Extortion

Ms. Wang was handcuffed to a metal chair in the police station. The police took her 100-yuan bill, claiming that it was to pay the locksmith.

Later that night, Ms. Wang's family went to the police station to ask for their house key. The police had changed the lock without informing the family and kept the keys to themselves, so her family had to hand over an additional 200 yuan in exchange for the keys to enter their own apartment.

Ms. Wang was forced to be tested for Covid 19 that same day, and the police extorted 97 yuan from her husband to pay for it.

Fingerprinted, Photographed, and Examined

On November 18, officers from the Puyang Street Police Station went to collect her fingerprints, but Ms. Wang refused to cooperate. Two of them grabbed her fingers and two others collected her prints, while Wang Chuang twisted one of her arms behind her back and stepped on her back. She kept shouting “Falun Dafa is good” in protest.

Wang Chuang kicked Ms. Wang in the head and face repeatedly. He also pulled up the arm he’d twisted behind her back, almost suffocating her. She nearly fainted from the pain.

Besides collecting her fingerprints, they also grabbed her by her hair and took a picture of her.

An officer ordered Ms. Wang to sign the detention notice. She refused to comply and insisted that she didn’t break any law. She told the police that she’d been illegally arrested and beaten, so if she signed their documents, they could be used as evidence against them when justice is served in China in the future.

That afternoon, the police took Ms. Wang to the hospital for a physical exam and then had her admitted to the Weizigou Detention Center.

Ten Days of Detention

Ms. Wang said that, although she was abused, some of the officers secretly helped her. She felt they were gradually waking up and understood that Falun Gong is being unjustly persecuted. But due to their position, they didn’t yet have the courage to challenge the regime.

In the car, the police officer sitting next to her loosened her handcuffs. It was a cold day, and another officer who once kicked her told her to put on her coat. At the station, a third policeman secretly told her that he did not agree with the CCP.

Knowing the importance of clarifying the facts about Falun Gong and awakening people’s consciences, Ms. Wang treated everyone she met in the detention center with compassion and urged them to stop persecuting Falun Gong to secure a good future for themselves.

The next day, Ms. Wang developed dizziness, sore arms, and pain in her back. There were handcuff marks on both wrists and bruises on the corners of her mouth, and she was short of breath.

The guards and prison doctor were afraid that she might die, so they started to talk to her. Ms. Wang explained that she didn’t violate any law in practicing Falun Gong and asked them to release her. They said they did not have the power to do that, but that if she continued with the hunger strike, they would have to give her injections. Finally, Ms. Wang agreed to drink some rice soup in the morning and a bottle of hot water in the evening. The guards also asked another Falun Gong practitioner detained there to take care of Ms. Wang.

The police called and harassed Ms. Wang’s family on November 22, 2020, telling them they would have to pay her medical expenses.

When Ms. Wang was released on the morning of November 27, 2020, she remained very weak and walked very slowly.
