(Minghui.org) Jilin Women’s Prison is one of the facilities that has been used by the Chinese Communist Party to detain and torture Falun Gong practitioners since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999.
The prison guards often instigate inmates to torture the practitioners, using some of the torture methods described below.
Sitting On a Small Stool
Every newly admitted practitioner was first taken to the so-called “learning class” and made to watch derogatory videos slandering Falun Gong and its founder.
If the practitioner refuses to comply, she is forced to sit straight on a tiny stool within a 2 foot by 2-foot area. The surface of the stool is uneven, with patterns and ridges. She has to sit upright with both hands on her knees. Her legs have to be closed and tight enough to hold a small piece of paper. If she drops the paper, she is scolded and beaten by the inmates. The sitting sometimes lasts as long as 20 hours per day. The inmates sometimes place their knees against the practitioner’s back.

One of the imprisoned practitioners was forced to clench her hands on her legs, making her unable to open her palms at night when she slept.
The sharp surface on the small stool and long-hours of sitting caused many practitioners to have injured buttocks. One practitioner suffered festered buttocks and had difficulty walking; she had to crawl instead.
Other Torture Methods
In addition to the physical torture of sitting on a small stool, sometimes the practitioners are not allowed to sleep and are limited to using the restroom only four times per day.
Some practitioners are forced to watch slanderous videos and write thought reports afterwards. It they refuse to slander Falun Gong in the reports, the guards force them to rewrite it, until they are satisfied.
In every cell, the guards assign a criminal inmate to monitor the practitioners. They are authorized by the guards to strictly control the practitioners and may torture the practitioners any time at will. One 60-year-old practitioner was once scolded and slapped in the face because the inmate supervisor decided that the floor was not mopped clean enough. Another practitioner was often beaten by five inmates at a covert place.
