1. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Wan Lihua Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Wan Lihua was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in mid-August 2020, after being detained for 11 months.
Her arrest was on the morning of September 24, 2019 by Domestic Security officers, when Ms. Wan was talking to people about Falun Gong at Nanchang University. Her home was ransacked, and she was taken to Nanchang City No. 1 Detention Center.
2. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Mr. Du Guolin Detained
Mr. Du Guolin was arrested by Liuhe County Domestic Security officers on July 28, 2020, and taken to Liuhe County Police Station for a physical examination. He was subsequently placed under criminal detention and taken to Liuhe County Detention Center.
The following day, the Domestic Security officers ransacked Mr. Du’s home after prying open the door. They confiscated a large number of personal belongings.
Mr. Du’s attorney went to the detention center to meet with him on August 21, but detention center officials did not allow the attorney to see Mr. Du.
3. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Aifang and Mr. Han Shunxing Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Li Aifang in Yanshi City was sentenced to one year and six months in prison on August 14, 2020.
Mr. Han Shunxing, who was released on bail on February 1, 2020, and was sentenced to two years in prison.
4. [Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Practitioners Remain Under Persecution
Practitioners detained at Zhuqi Women’s Prison in Liyang City include Mr. Ni You’ai, Ms. Yuan Huaqin, Ms. Dai Jianying, and Ms. Zhang Linfeng.
Practitioners detained at Suzhou Prison include Mr. Wu Tingyuan.
Practitioners detained at Changzhou Detention Center include Ms. Zhang Yuhua, Ms. Song Jianping, Mr. Tan Xiaodong, and Ms. Chen Xingzhen.
The following practitioners were released on bail: Ms. Ding Wenjun, Ms. Yang Yuying, Ms. Hu Liujuan, Ms. Ding Xuemei, and Ms. Bu Rumei.
Ms. Wu Zhenxiu’s whereabouts are unknown after being sentenced to a three-year term.
5. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Ding Jiayi Harassed
At least three plainclothes officers were monitoring Ms. Ding Jiayi (86) downstairs in her apartment building on the afternoon of August 21, 2020.
6. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Yuzhi's and Ms. Zhang Wenling's Cases Sent to Procuratorate
Ms. Ma Yuzhi and Ms. Zhang Wenling of Dongchangfu District were arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their cases were turned over to the Procuratorate.
7. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
Jia (director of Dongjiuzhai Town Police Station) and other officers led by Wen Guocai (village security director) went to the homes of Ms. Yu Xiuju, Ms. Man Xiuling, and Mr. Wen Fushan in Wenzhuang Village on the morning of August 18, 2020. They asked practitioners to sign a letter renouncing Falun Gong, all of whom refused to sign.
On July 23, 2020, the officers went to the homes of Mr. Wang Yumin, Ms. Wang Xiufen, and Ms. Wang Haiying in Shiqiaotou Village and Dongzhangzhuang Village and harassed them.
8. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Ms. Pan Huan and Ms. Hong Arrested
Ms. Pan Huan and Ms. Hong were reported to police when they were talking to people about Falun Gong in Guicun Township, Jian’an District, on August 23, 2020. They were arrested by the Guicun Township police.
9. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Ms. Xia Zehong’s Case Turned Over to Procuratorate
Ms. Xia Zehong was arrested when distributing Falun Gong materials on the evening of February 3, 2020, by seven Domestic Security officers who were staked out there. The officers confiscated her electric car and printed materials.
Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, a copier, four cell phones, a tablet, audio players, and 17,300 yuan in cash were confiscated.
Ms. Xia was taken to Tianjia’an District Police Department for interrogation. She was then taken to a detention center. She was released that night for failing the physical exam.
She was notified on August 3 that her case had been sent to the Procuratorate for prosecution.
10. [Hengyang County, Hunan Province] Mr. Peng Junnan Arrested
Mr. Peng Junnan, 78, a retired middle school teacher, was reported to police when talking to people about Falun Gong at the Jiepai Town farmers market on the morning of August 24, 2020. He was arrested by officers from the Jiepai Town Police Station.
When the director pressured Mr. Peng to give his name, Mr. Peng did not cooperate. The director ordered the assistant police officer on duty to handcuff him. The assistant officer cuffed one of his hands so tightly that it cut into his wrist bone. The other cuff was attached to an iron bar on the window. The lock on his wrist was so tight and painful that Mr. Peng kept sweating. Mr. Peng was released around noon.
11. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qu Fengxi Detained
Ms. Qu Fengzi from Lingcheng District was arrested by officers from the Bianlin Town Police Station when she was talking to people about Falun Gong in Bianlin Town on August 8, 2020. She was taken to Dezhou City Detention Center.
12. [Beijing] Mr. Meng Hongwei Officially Arrested
Mr. Meng Hongwei from Doudian Town, Fangshan District, was arrested in July 2020. He was detained at Fangshan Detention Center, and was officially arrested by the Procuratorate.
13. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qi Guoying’s Son Demoted
Ms. Qi Guoying’s son was recently pressured by his work unit, and was demoted, as an attempt to pressure Ms. Qi into giving up her belief in Falun Gong. While upholding her belief, she also faces pressure from her family, who have also been implicated in the persecution.
14. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Xiuzhen Arrested
Ms. Li Xiuzhen of Dongning City was arrested when talking to people about Falun Gong on August 22, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was released that day.
15. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Qiuxia Arrested
Ms. Liu Qiuxia, 68, of Sipo Sub-district, Wugang City, was arrested by officers from Wugang City Domestic Security Division and officer Li Weimin from Yuanling Police Station on August 22, 2020. The officers confiscated a laptop computer, video player, and printed materials, among other belongings.
16. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Jianchun Beaten and Arrested
Ms. Yu Jianchun was beaten by a residential community security guard when she was distributing Falun Gong materials in the community on the morning of August 23, 2020. Her eyes were red and swollen as a result of the beating.
She was taken to the Fenghuangtai Police Station. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and two cell phones were confiscated. She was released on bail at around 10:00 p.m., after her family paid 2,000 yuan.
17. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Yang Xiuling Arrested
Ms. Yang Xiuling from Zhoukou City, Henan Province, was reported to police when she was talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials at the Zhuanji Town farmers market in Jieshou County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province on July 9, 2020.
18. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Zhang’s Home Ransacked
Officers from the Tianhe Street Police Station and Huangpi District 610 Office went to practitioner Zhang’s home and ransacked the place on July 15, 2020. They confiscated Falun Dafa books and other items. Zhang was not at home at the time.
The officers went to Zhang’s hometown in the countryside to harass the practitioner on July 24. Zhang was not there at the time.
19. [Baicheng City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qi Fengzhen Detained
Ms. Qi Fengzhen was arrested at home on July 15, 2020. She was taken to the Baicheng City Detention Center.
20. [Shanghai] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Shi Hedi of Ruijinerlu Sub-district, Huangpu District, went shopping with two other practitioners, Ms. Xiao and Ms. Li, on the morning of August 23, 2020. They were arrested on the way by officers from the Ruijinerlu Police Station. Both Ms. Xiao and Ms. Li were released. Ms. Shi is being detained for ten days.
21. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Ci Yuan Arrested
Ms. Ci Yuan, from Daliang Town, Shunde District, was arrested in March 2020 for distributing Falun Gong materials. Her case was brought to court. Her family hired a lawyer, and she was tried once.
Both of her parents are disabled, and no one took care of them at home. Ms. Ci was temporarily released. A few years ago, her brother was persecuted to death for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Ci was recently arrested again. Her current situation is not clear.
22. [Chongqing] Ms. Li Wenfeng Harassed
Dongjintuo Community personnel in Hechuan District called Ms. Li Wenfeng’s husband and asked that Ms. Li go to the community office to sign paperwork. The paperwork stated that she had to return over 33,000 yuan to the government. This was her pension she received during her one and a half years in prison, starting on December 28, 2016.
The community personnel called Ms. Li’s husband again the following morning and asked her to go to the office. At around 4:00 p.m. they called again, and Ms. Li went to the office. The community personnel took out two forms and asked her to sign in duplicate, and it was specified on the form that she would pay the amount in either one full payment or in installments.
23. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Cao Yueling from Wanghua District was scheduled to take a flight from Shenyang City to Shanghai to visit her son on August 24, 2020. She was arrested at the Shenyang Airport by officers from the Leifeng Police Station. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books, photos of the founder of Falun Dafa, and printed materials were confiscated. The police attempted to arrest her mother, Ms. Chen Yan, which was stopped by her father. Ms. Cao was released at 11:30 p.m.
Practitioner Wang and Ms. Ji Baozhen were arrested at home. They were released at around midnight.
24. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Deng Yuhong Arrested
Ms. Deng Yuhong was reported to police when she was distributing Falun Gong materials in the Chengnan area, Caomiaozi Town, on the evening of August 24, 2020.
The police ransacked her home the next morning. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Dafa books, a computer, satellite TV receiver, cell phone, keys, national ID, and a bank card.
25. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Yuling Held in Detention Center
Ms. Zhang Yuling’s case was taken by the Domestic Security Division of Mudanjiang Agricultural Reclamation Administration. She is detained at Jixi Detention Center.
26. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Face Trial
Officers from the Laiwu District Domestic Security Division and Dongzhan Police Station arrested several practitioners in July 2019.
The cases of Mr. Yin Feng, Mr. Cheng Xijiang, Mr. Liu Xixiu, and Ms. Chen Lianmei were brought to the Laiwu District Court. They are scheduled for trial on the morning of September 1, 2020.
27. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Li Fuguo Arrested
Liu Tao, head of Hunyuan County Domestic Security Division, went to Ms. Li Min’s hometown and arrested her father, Mr. Li Fuguo, on the afternoon of August 18, 2020. Mr. Li was taken to Datong City and has not yet returned. He was likely taken to the Yufu Hotel Brainwashing Center.
28. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Jie’s Case Brought to Court
Ms. Zhao Jie lives in Xinbin County. Her case was brought to the Shuncheng District Court.
29. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Deng Guiying Secretly Sentenced
It was recently confirmed by the Minghui.org website that Ms. Deng Guiying was secretly sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. Deng, 66, a retired printing company employee, was living away from home after she was harassed in late August 2019. She was reported to police when she came back to have dinner with her mother on September 20, 2019, and was then arrested.
Ms. Deng was detained at the Nanchang First Detention Center following her arrest. Her family was kept in the dark about her situation. It’s not clear when she was sentenced and where she is imprisoned.
30 [Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Wang Wenjun Secretly Detained
Ms. Wang Wenjun was arrested at home at around 1:00 p.m. on August 4, 2020. Her family was informed the next day that she was in criminal detention. On August 6, they were told that Ms. Wang would be sent to a brainwashing center. When they asked the police where the brainwashing center is located, the officer said it was a secret.
In the week after Ms. Wang’s arrest, her family frequented the local police station, police department, and residential committee’s office, but still couldn’t find her. One officer revealed that she was being held at the office of Shangyu District Political and Legal Affairs Committee. Where she is presently detained remains to be further investigated.
31. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Shang Zhaoxiang Imprisoned
Ms. Shang Zhaoxiang was taken to Shandong Province Women's Prison on July 14, 2020, to serve a three-year-term, and was since denied family visitation. Due to the information blockade, it's not known whether she is being abused in prison.
32. [Tianjin] Appeals by Ms. Cheng Guiying and Ms. Cheng Guijing Rejected
Two sisters, Ms. Cheng Guiying and Ms. Cheng Guijing, were sentenced to eight years with a 40,000 yuan fine, and nine years with a 50,000 yuan fine on January 13, 2020, by the Nankai District Court. Their appeals were rejected and the original verdicts upheld by the Tianjin No. 2 Intermediate Court in late June 2020. The two sisters were taken to Tianjin Women’s Prison in late July 2020.
