(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Xiufang, a resident of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was subjected to inhuman physical and mental torture while serving a four-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

By the time she was released from the prison, her husband had divorced her and married someone else.

Inhuman Torture

Ms. Wang was arrested on July 6, 2016, after being reported for spreading information about Falun Gong. She was later sentenced to four years and sent to the Hohhot Women's Prison on January 10, 2017.

Ms. Wang was assigned to a ward for newly admitted inmates. The guards ordered her to memorize the prison rules and watch videos slandering Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, she was sent to a strict management team ten days later, which was created specifically to persecute Falun Gong practitioners who remained firm in their faith.

Ms. Wang refused to wear the name tag indicating her name and prison term, as she maintained that she was not a criminal and she did not break any law by practicing Falun Gong. A guard yelled curses at her and shocked her mouth, ears, neck, and hands with an electric baton.

Following the electric shock, the guard didn’t give Ms. Wang a break and ordered her to stand in her cell. He beat her again when she refused to cooperate. Ms. Wang was tortured in the strict management team for nine months.

After she was transferred to No. 2 Ward, she was cruelly beaten with sandals by the inmates in May 2018 for sitting in her bed with her eyes closed.

While noticing her sitting in the bed with her eyes closed again on September 20, 2019, the guards ordered the inmates to gag her mouth with socks and whipped her face with a rope. Then they handcuffed and shackled her, before tying her to a shelving unit. The guard assigned inmates to watch over her and keep her awake for the whole night. She was tied up to the unit for two days, and the handcuffs and shackles were removed one week later.

When Ms. Wang refused to wear the name tag again on October 29, 2019, they took off her clothes and sewed the badge on it. They then pushed her on the ground to put on the clothes and tied her hands behind her back.

Other Practitioners Also Persecuted

In addition to Ms. Wang, many practitioners detained in the prison were also tortured for upholding their faith.

In May 2019, practitioners Ms. Zheng Jinling and Ms. Li Caizhi were thrown to the ground because they refused to pressure other practitioners to renounce their faith. Ms. Zheng was dragged on the ground for more than 30 feet. Ms. Li reportedly had broken arms.

On February 20, 2020, Ms. Zheng was knocked down and dragged back to her cell by the neck. Her hands and arms bled profusely.
