(Minghui.org) My husband and I started to practice Falun Dafa in August 1996, before the persecution began.
It’s been no easy task to continuously clarify the facts to people about Dafa. However, under Master’s benevolent protection, we have been following Master's guidance during our 24 years of cultivation. As Master has said,
“As long as you can always walk along clearheadedly, and are always cultivating and doing what a Dafa disciple should do, you are remarkable and Master will recognize you!” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)
My husband and I are both retired high school teachers. Our former students are either in their 50s or 60s and many have kept in touch with us since they graduated. Some visit us every Chinese New Year. When they have an event such as a wedding or other important celebration, they often invite us. We always try to attend these events, for the purpose of awakening people’s conscience, saving sentient beings, and helping people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
My husband and I attended a former student’s son’s wedding a couple of years ago. He told us about one of our previous students who couldn’t attend because he'd had a stroke and had to use a wheelchair. Later, my husband and I took a cab to try and find him but we couldn’t. We searched for him several times over the next couple of years but we were unable to locate him.
Before the Chinese New Year this year, we hired a car and a driver. The driver of this particular car likes to chat with us, and decided to quit the CCP for himself, his family, relatives and friends. He also took a big bag of Dafa informational materials to hand out at home.
My husband said, “You could help quite a few people quit the CCP; this is truly wonderful! You would accumulate great virtue for doing that!” This greatly encouraged the driver. My husband suggested taking a ride with him to look for the former student in the wheelchair.
The driver was puzzled, and asked, “You were his teacher, how come you’re going to visit him?” We said that he was ill, had lost his mobility, and was in a wheelchair.
The driver responded, “He graduated decades ago yet you are still going to see him, that’s pretty rare.” My husband told him that we cultivate Dafa. Our Master told us: “...Under all circumstances, we must be good and kind to others...” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
“He was my student,” said my husband, “so I have to clarify the facts to him. Over the last couple of years, we have tried several times to find him but without success. So, today we are trying again.”
The driver said, “A few days ago, you helped me, my relatives and friends quit the CCP. We truly wanted to thank you. Now it’s your student’s turn to be saved.” I said, “Please do not thank us, but rather our Master Li Hongzhi.” He shouted, “Thank you Master Li Hongzhi!”
We arrived at the street where this student lived. My husband stayed in the car whilst the driver and I went to a few residential buildings to look for the student. I also took this opportunity to clarify the facts to people, and the driver said that he would help me. We went to different buildings, but no one had heard of that student.
I knocked on the door of a house and a man in his 70s answered. I told him the purpose of my visit, but he hadn’t heard of the student either. I clarified the facts to him and suggested that he often recite “Falun Dafa is wonderful! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is wonderful!” to ensure his safety and escape calamity. I also suggested that he quit the CCP.
While I was talking to this elderly man, who was deeply poisoned by the CCP, he suddenly vented his anger by slapping my face and yelling at me. Although he hit me and swore at me – an elderly woman in her 80s – I felt no hatred towards him. I felt my compassion come forth, and thought that he was truly pitiful.
Master’s Fa clearly showed me that we should look inward and get rid of our attachments when facing adversities. For me to run into this incident was a test of my forbearance, whether I have truly fulfilled the requirement “...one should not fight back when being punched or insulted...” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun), and whether I could maintain my xinxing. Therefore, for me to run into this matter as a practitioner was all good.
The driver and I checked everywhere in the nearby residential buildings but still couldn’t locate the address of that student. We went to the local police station but there was no record of his name. After that, we went to his community management committee but nobody had heard of him. Finally we went to the neighborhood committee, and were told that he had passed away the year before. With the address provided, we went to his home to visit his family but didn’t find anyone. Then we decided to head home.
With the outbreak of the CCP Virus (the coronavirus that causes Covid-19), cities, townships, and villages were all under lockdown. What should we do as practitioners who are shouldering the great responsibility of assisting Master in rectifying the Fa and awakening the conscience of sentient beings?
We asked ourselves if we should be like ordinary people and stay home? Sentient beings are suffering, it’s the perfect time for us to awaken their conscience, and time is pressing. However, many practitioners stopped going out, claiming they were “complying with ordinary people’s state.” They did not attend the Fa-study group, distribute Dafa informational materials, or try to awaken people’s conscience. Even some veteran practitioners who ran materials production centers stopped delivering materials to others, as they were petrified by the false illusion of this epidemic.
Master said:
“...there is a reason for everything that you experience in life once you become part of our spiritual community, and all of it is for your growth.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2019 New York Fa Conference”)
“Everything in the human world was arranged purposefully so as to arouse people’s attachments; there are so many things that prevent you from being saved. You do not consider yourself a cultivator and follow along with those things?! You are the hope for all sentient beings, and you are the hope for lives in your area!” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference”)
Master’s words lightened my heart. My husband and I, as well as many other practitioners, weren’t moved by the lockdown of the city and the roads. Master’s Fa helped us see that it was all illusion. We should continue to do the things that we are supposed to do. Although the city was under lockdown, it shouldn’t change our steadfast faith in following the path that Master arranged for us.
It’s urgent to save people during the epidemic or else they could die, and we’d have failed to meet their expectations of us. Since everyone had to stay at home, it was the perfect time for practitioners to go to their homes and talk to them about Dafa. My husband and I decided to go to the homes of people from our building.
For many years, we had been clarifying the truth to the people in our building. But due to the high resident turnover, there were several new residents and we decided to go visit them. We found that there were two types of response.
One was that people were receptive to hearing about Dafa and decided to quit the CCP. They truly appreciated our visit and told us, “During this epidemic, regardless of your age and concern for your own safety, you came out to deliver good news to us. We truly appreciate that.” My husband then asked them to thank our Master instead.
Then, there were those who refused to listen to us. One man said, “The Chinese Communist Party has given me everything; how can I possibly quit it? Please leave.” We figured he was probably being paid by the Party and he was brainwashed and poisoned, which was truly pitiful. Another man we visited, although I told him that we lived in the same building and came to help him escape the virus, refused to open the door to listen to what we had to say.
Besides visiting our neighbors, we took a cab to go and clarify the truth to more people two times every day. During the epidemic, we increased our trips to three or four times a day. Before the epidemic we could awaken the conscience of up to a dozen people in a day, but once the epidemic started we could help 20 or even 30 people. The virus left people petrified, and everybody wanted to survive. When they heard that there was a way to escape death they listened to us. In addition, we have been mailing out three truth-clarification letters every day. The cab fare and the postage for mailing out these letters has added up, yet we never worried about how much we spent and felt it was truly worthwhile.
In our residential area, some people believed the CCP's lies and spread rumors to slander and defame Dafa – they were brainwashed by the CCP. In particular, they held hatred towards Dafa and practitioners. Some followed and monitored practitioners; some went to the police station to report and falsely accuse practitioners; and some provided false evidence to persecute practitioners. These people have received retribution including losing their lives or contracting detrimental illnesses.
During the epidemic, a security guard surnamed Wang who had been monitoring us closely was very upset at seeing us going out every day. Sometimes he challenged us about the purpose of our trip. Once he even wanted to search my purse. I didn’t let him so he threatened my husband, saying he would have him arrested.
One time, we clarified the facts to a person who gave us a ride on his electric bike. He helped his family and relatives quit the CCP, and we gave him a big bag of Dafa informational materials. He was moved after chatting with us.
When he dropped us off at the entrance to our residential area, security guard Wang came over to him asking, “What did they give you?” The driver said, “Mind your own business! What’s it got to do with you? Aren’t you thinking about finding fault with them and reporting them? Let me tell you, a bad person receives retribution.”
Wang said, “You don’t know who they are.” The driver got upset, and he challenged Wang, saying, “Can you tell me who you are? I say you are someone who always does bad deeds. Such a person will never have a good ending! This couple, both in their 80s, risked their lives to tell me how to survive the virus. During this critical moment, they are helping others. Can you tell me whether they are good or bad people? Let me tell you, people who truly practice Dafa are good people and even better people. I warn you not to do any harm to them, otherwise you’ll receive retribution. You won’t have a good ending for sure.” Wang was speechless and headed back to his office.
Later, my husband and I tried to clarify the facts to Wang several times, but he refused to listen. The evil controlling him from other dimensions didn’t want him to learn the truth about Dafa and wanted to destroy him. My husband and I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate every evil being and factor controlling him. If he still didn’t change, there would be retribution waiting for him. Sure enough, a few days later he was fired. So the environment for clarifying the facts in our area became much more relaxed.
During my 24 years of cultivation, I have come to feel at all times that it doesn’t matter how trivial a matter is, as long as I do the right thing, Master will help me. I am so moved by this.

“Don’t let the madness and confusion of this world affect you. Cultivate with the heart you once had, and spiritual perfection is certain! May you grow ever more diligent as you approach the end!” (“To the Experience-Sharing Conference in Taiwan”)
