(Minghui.org) An electronics store owner in Kunming City, Yunnan Province was tied to a “death bed” in a spread eagle position after he went on a hunger strike to protest the arbitrary detention for his faith in Falun Gong. Mr. Qiu An's family is calling on the international community to pay attention to his case and help rescue him.

Torture demonstration: Tied to a death bed

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Qiu, 47, was arrested at his store on May 11, 2020. The police ransacked his home and interrogated him. He has been detained at Guandu District Detention Center since.

When Mr. Qiu’s family went to the local police station to demand his release on May 13, officer Liu Xiong threatened to pursue prosecution of him.

Mr. Qiu had been previously arrested on December 11, 2018, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials to his customers. The police beat him and pepper-sprayed him, resulting in a broken pelvis and broken ribs. The police also forcibly collected his blood sample and said it was to be used for “organ harvesting.”

Mr. Qiu’s family suspects that his latest arrest was a retaliation for his writing to Zhou Jianzhong, the head of Kunming City Police Department, exposing the police brutality during his 2018 arrest.
