(Minghui.org) Four Falun Gong practitioners in Xichang City, Sichuan Province were indicted for their faith in February 2020. They have recently filed appeals to have the indictment dropped.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
Mr. Huang Biao, 68, had his home raided on July 14, 2019. The police confiscated his tens of thousands of yuan in cash but didn't arrest him because he is the main caregiver to his bedridden wife.
Ms. Yu Hongying was arrested on July 19, 2019, and she remains at Xiaomaozhou Detention Center.
Ms. Zhao Jun, 64, was arrested on July 23, 2019, and released on August 21.
Ms. Luo Mingchun credits Falun Gong with curing her depression and enabling her to become a more positive person. She was arrested on August 12, 2019, and released on December 2.
The police submitted the four practitioners' cases to the Xichang City Procuratorate on October 16. The procuratorate indicted them on February 7, 2020.
Upon receiving a copy of the indictment on March 4, Ms. Zhao and Ms. Luo were shocked because their release certificates stated clearly that they had been released unconditionally due to the lack of evidence against them. They questioned how it was possible that the prosecutor suddenly gathered enough evidence to charge them. They soon filed an appeal requesting to have the indictment against them dropped.
Ms. Yu and Mr. Huang also appealed to the procuratorate to have their cases dismissed.
