(Minghui.org) At least eleven Falun Gong practitioners in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province were harassed and two were taken to brainwashing centers in November 2020 for their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Married Couple in Xinghua District Harassed
Mr. Gao Xinle and his wife Ms. Qi Junhong heard knocking on their door around noon on November 20, 2020. Two women outside identified themselves as officials from the community committee. Knowing that the officials came to harass them, the couple still welcomed them and led them inside.
After they were seated, Mr. Gao asked about their official titles and phone numbers. One woman was Zhang Cong, the community secretary and the other was Li Wei, the community director. But they did not give out their phone numbers. They asked the couple if they still practice Falun Gong.
Mr. Gao responded: “Yes, we will continue practicing no matter what.” Ms. Qi explained how she and her husband returned to health by practicing Falun Gong. They also shared that Falun Gong teaches people to be good and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They further explained the hoax of Tiananmen Self-immolation which was staged to provoke hatred toward Falun Gong.
Ms. Qi also pointed out to the community officials that there was no legal basis for the persecution of Falun Gong. The officials said they would look it up online.
Before leaving, the officials asked to take photos of the couple, but the couple rejected.
Seventy-Year-Old Woman Threatened
When Ms. Wang Xiuying, a 70-year-old resident of Cang County, was collecting fire wood in the yard of her village home on November 16, 2020, when one police car stopped at her door and four policemen came out. They checked with her to confirm that this was her house. She realized why they came and confronted them courageously, “It is me. I practice Falun Gong!”
One policeman shouted: “Arrest her, take her away!”
Ms. Wang said, “I did not commit any crime, why do you arrest me? I just do Falun Gong exercises to keep fit. Did I bother anyone? Why don’t you go arrest those corrupt officials?”
The policeman said: “Someone reported that you distributed Falun Gong brochures and calendars. Did you post the stickers on the powerline poles? We need to search your house.”
“I don't have any materials.” She blocked the door and then locked it.
One policeman challenged her, “If you don't have anything in your house, why are you afraid of us searching your home?”
She responded: “Even though I don’t possess anything illegal, I can't let you search my place since it is unlawful. Everyone in the village knows that all of my illnesses were cured through practicing Falun Gong, including severe heart problems, low blood pressure, and back and leg pains.”
Another policeman said: “Your children's future was ruined because of your practice.”
She refuted, “My children are fortunate since I stay healthy. So they don't have to take care of me or pay expensive medical bills for me.”
The four policemen could not argue with her anymore and then left.
More Harassment Cases
Other practitioners who have been harassed include Liu Hongming and Liu Shangqing from Polongtang Township; Li Jinqiao of Walongtang Township; Xing Enying and Xu Jinhui in Zhongjuanzi Village; Huang Xiaoe and Fan Guiping in Xijuanzi Village; and Men Guiling in Fenzhuang Village, Niujinzhuang Township, Mengcun County.
More practitioners in the following villages were also harassed but details were still unknown: Wanghaisi Village, Xiaoguanzhuang Village and Caozhuangzi Village of Fenghuadian Township, Cang County; Ganhuatun Village and Panghe Village of Jiuzhou Town, Cang County.
Brainwashing Class in Qing County, Cangzhou City
A brainwashing class was set up on the third floor of the Center for Disease Control building of Qingxian County, Cangzhou City, to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. There were TVs, DVD players, tables, chairs and other paper materials. Several collaborators were brought in to assist the efforts to force the practitioners to renounce their faith.
Ms. Zhu Huanxiang was detained there for four days. Her family was forced to sign false paperwork in order to get her released. Liang Yu is currently ordered to go here during the daytime.
