(Minghui.org) Four Baoji City, Shaanxi Province residents were recently sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The four practitioners were tried by the Jintai District Court on October 9, 2020, and convicted on November 9.
Ms. Li Minfang, 81, was sentenced to five years and fined 5,000 yuan.
Ms. Wang Juxiang, 39, and Ms. Gao Xiaowei, 50, were both sentenced to four years and fined 4,000 yuan.
Ms. Chen Defang, 65, was sentenced to three years and fined 3,000 yuan.
Ms. Wang and Ms. Gao were arrested on November 21, 2018, while Ms. Li and Ms. Chen were arrested on November 29, 2018. All of them were taken to brainwashing classes held at the Lingyun Hotel.
Ms. Li was released on bail on February 2, 2019. The Jintai District Procuratorate put her under house arrest on August 10, 2019.
Ms. Wang, Ms. Chen and Ms. Gao were all confined to metal chairs in the brainwashing center for 15, 16 and 18 days, respectively. Ms. Gao’s buttocks festered as a result.
Ms. Wang was put in criminal detention on December 5, 2018, and transferred to the Baoji No.2 Detention Center. Her arrest was approved on January 15, 2019.
Ms. Gao and Ms. Chen were also transferred to the Baoji No.2 Detention Center later on.
The four practitioners were informed by the Jintai District Court on March 5, 2020, that they had been indicted.
