(Minghui.org) The year 2020 is unusual. While the coronavirus pandemic is still ravaging the world, various other unexpected events have also been unfolding one after another. My initial understanding was that facing these seemingly chaotic and complicated issues, maintaining a peaceful mind and remaining undisturbed was critical. Regarding what was happening in the United States, although I did pay attention to it, I always reminded myself not to get carried away by the worldly affairs.
When news broke on October 1 that U.S. President Donald Trump had been infected with coronavirus, two fellow practitioners and I happened to be dining out. They were baffled by the news, and I shared my understandings. First of all, this could be a test from the old forces to challenge Dafa disciples. We had been told that the coronavirus came to target the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its followers. Trump had been countering the CCP all along but he was still infected. The old forces would like to see if we still had faith in Master. Secondly, the old forces could be using this to interfere with our efforts of saving everyday people. We had been telling people that the coronavirus was targeting the CCP. With Trump's infection, many people may get confused and no longer believe us.
Then came November 3, the general election in the U.S. When the results turned unfavorable to Trump, a relative of mine, also a Falun Dafa practitioner, called me to say many people were puzzled by the results and felt very bad about it. I reminded her to not get swayed because the vicious can never surpass the righteous. I added that the eventual outcome would be good, and that for something this big in human society, there could be some resistance. Therefore, I was not attached to the results, nor did I pay much attention to it.
After reading the Minghui Editorial on November 7, titled “We Must Know and Be Clearheaded about Our Principles and Fundamentals,” however, I realized that my understandings had been either very limited or wrong.
I’ve come to see that my fundamentals of keeping my heart unmoved by worldly affairs were off, and that it was wrong for me to do nothing when the evil was attacking the righteous recklessly in the human world. Trump’s infection on October 1 was also not as simple as I had thought. Right now, I think it was an attempt by the old forces to eliminate him, the “man chosen by the divine to return to tradition and disintegrate the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),” in the form of illness. It is part of a bigger plan by the old forces to interfere with Fa-rectification.
Master said,
“For cosmic events to unfold there have to be people carrying things out and bringing about certain states of affairs.” (The Seventh Talk, Zhuan Falun)
Therefore, the general election we see today is a manifestation of cosmic changes in this human world. On the surface, it is the competition between two presidential candidates, but at a deeper level, it is beyond the human world. It is a reflection of the battle between the righteous and the vicious. It is the old forces interfering and doing harm when Master’s Fa-rectification is penetrating this human world. It is a manifestation of the war between the divine and the demon.
On the divine side, we have Master Li (founder of Falun Dafa), Dafa disciples, and divine beings who support Fa-rectification.
On the demon side, there are the communist specter, people who stand with communism, and the old forces and other beings under their control in various dimensions. Out of jealousy, these evil elements want to protect their own interests while ignoring the safety of the cosmos and all sentient beings.
In the human world, Trump was chosen by the divine to help Dafa disciples and lead people to return to the tradition. His election opponent was selected by the old forces who persecute Dafa disciples and suppress belief towards the divine. They aim to completely destroy morality and implement the vicious communism through legal and administrative measures.
The U.S. election has now entered a very complicated phase. But this chaos may well be a part of the divine arrangement. For us Dafa disciples, we should be clear on this and improve our understandings about it. At the critical yet fleeting historic moment, and in the frightening war between good and evil, how can we do well what we are supposed to do as Dafa disciples?
As a Dafa disciple, should I just wait for things to unfold in the human world with the notion of remaining undisturbed and not getting involved in politics? Or should I do something with my divine power as a Dafa disciple? It is true that we disciples do not participate in politics, and have no political agenda or pursuits of fame and interest in the human world. However, that does not mean that we neglect to distinguish between good and evil, and that we allow the situation to worsen on its own.
From the perspective of cultivation, since it is a war between the divine and evil, we cannot just stand on the sidelines watching, though our actions are not the same as everyday people who seek justice for themselves.
Master said,
“There’s something I told you before. I said: what is a Buddha? ‘Tathagata’ is what human beings call someone who’s come with the truth and the power to do what he wants, whereas real Buddhas are guardians of the cosmos and are responsible for all righteous elements in the cosmos.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. Fa Conference,” Guiding the Voyage)
As Dafa disciples, it is our mission and responsibility to safeguard the new cosmos and to assist Master with Fa-rectification, and help protect all righteous elements in the cosmos. By making the best use of the divine power bestowed to us by Master, we can participate in the battle between good and evil and eliminate all interference to the election results.
