Medical Miracles Brought About by Falun Dafa (Part 6): Recovery of the Disabled
(Minghui.org) Having good health is everyone’s dream, but many suffer from diseases that even modern medicine cannot cure. Falun Dafa, however, has enabled many of its practitioners to recover from incurable diseases. Based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Falun Dafa was introduced to the public on May 13, 1992. In the past 28 years, practitioners in over 100 countries have improved their physical health and uplifted their moral character, becoming better citizens.
Back in 1998, six years after the introduction of Falun Dafa, China’s General Administration of Sports organized health professionals to conduct a total of five surveys on the healing effect of Falun Dafa. Nearly 35,000 practitioners in Beijing, Wuhan (the capital of Hubei Province), Dalian (a metropolitan city in Liaoning Province), and Guangdong Province participated in these five surveys.
Results showed that 98% of the participants had experienced improved physical health and saved an average of about 20 million yuan (or $3 million) in medical expenses per year for their employers.
Zhuan Falun, the main teachings of Falun Dafa written by its founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, was published in China in late 1994. Two years later, it became one of the top-ten bestsellers in China. Currently translated into over 40 languages, it is the Chinese book that has been translated into the most foreign languages.
This series is a collection of experiences about Falun Dafa practitioners who have benefited tremendously by reading the book and living by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

(Continued from Part 5)
Compared to other bodily ailments, being physically disabled not only means discomfort, but also mental stress and sometimes social discrimination. Below are a few stories of Falun Dafa practitioners who have miraculously recovered from disabilities––regaining their health as well as their happiness.
Work Injuries and Disabilities
Mr. Wang Shenghua, a public transportation driver in Weifang City, Shandong Province, was severely burned while trying to salvage public property from a fire. The burns covered roughly 30% of his entire body.
Though he survived the fire, he ended up with a long list of sequelae, including large areas of his skin covered in pus and blood, precancerous abnormalities on his skin, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, and severe insomnia. Modern medicine had little effect on his condition. Due to the inhibitive cost of his medical treatment, his employer stopped paying for his treatment, even though he was awarded the title “Firefighting Hero.”
Under the tremendous pressure of his physical condition and his mounting medical bills, Mr. Wang started to have a mental breakdown. His wife, Ms. Dai Zongzhen, became fatigued in the process of caring for him and began to develop heart and kidney diseases herself. The couple frequently quarreled due to their financial hardships. This conflict created an unstable family atmosphere for their daughter, Wang Peng, who grew increasingly quiet and despondent about her own life.
The couple's fate took a turn for the better when they both started to practice Falun Dafa in the summer of 1995. Within days, Ms. Wang’s symptoms disappeared and Ms. Dai’s health recovered as well. They conducted themselves according to the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in their daily life and at work, earning them praise from their superiors and coworkers. Their daughter also recovered, transforming from lonely and reserved to outgoing and mature. Falun Dafa brought health and happiness to their family.
However, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Dafa in 1999, the couple was arrested and their home ransacked because they refused to give up their belief. They were laid off by their employers under pressure from the authorities, and their daughter was expelled from school.
They were given forced labor terms and forced to flee home to avoid further persecution. Ms. Dai’s mother and two younger brothers were persecuted to death, and her sister-in-law suffered a stroke due to the sudden impact.
Paralyzed Coal Miner Able to Walk Again
A Minghui report on April 30, 2016, described the story of Mr. Qing Yan, a worker in a coal mine who was injured during a mine collapse. As a result, he suffered compression fractures on his first three lumbar vertebrae. As a result, he was paralyzed from the waist down. After over eight hours of spinal fusion surgery, a steel plate and screws were used to fix and stabilize his spine. Although the plate was later extracted, he had to sit in a wheelchair and use crutches to get around. Years of seeking medical treatment from prestigious hospitals in Tianjin and Beijing yielded no results.
Mr. Qing started to practice Falun Dafa in 1997 and did the exercises from his wheelchair. His health improved day by day; by 2000 he was able to stand and walk without crutches. After the persecution started, he went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to speak out for Falun Dafa. He talked to people, such as the Communist Party secretary at his workplace and even the local police officers, about his wonderful healing process. He would ride his bicycle all around town to tell people about Falun Dafa and his experience.
An Explosion Survivor Makes a Full Recovery
Mr. Long Tingpan, an employee of an electronic device factory in Jingmen City, Hubei Province, was seriously injured during an accidental explosion at work. He was left with a number of disabilities and received the first grade disability evaluation by the government. Due to the copper shrapnel, small rock pieces, and dust from the explosion blocking his pores, he was not able to sweat normally, leading to an unbearable itching and abscesses all over the body. His bronchi were damaged, which caused him to often cough blood. His employer sent him to Shanghai and Beijing to seek medical experts, to no avail––they also spent money on folk medicine, including voodoo doctors, without any success.
Just as he was about to give up, Falun Dafa began spreading to the Jingmen area. Mr. Long and his wife, Ms. Zhou Ping, started to practice Falun Dafa in May 1996. Soon, his injuries were healed and his agony was gone––suddenly, he had his life back.
His wife’s health also improved after some stubborn illnesses were cured through practicing Falun Dafa. Their superiors at work praised them both for practicing Falun Dafa and saving their companies huge amounts of money in terms of medical expenses. The couple started to conduct themselves according to the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and strove to become better people.
After the persecution was launched in 1999, Mr. Long was sentenced to 7 years in prison and Ms. Zhou was sentenced to 9 years in prison. Ms. Zhou was injected with a poisonous drug during her detention at a brainwashing center. Fortunately, another practitioner noticed the aftereffects when visiting Ms. Zhou at home; she survived after emergency treatment.
Other Injuries Caused by Trauma
According to a Minghui report on October 2, 2014, a man was injured while trying to save a murder victim on June 7, 2007. The man's skull and right ear were deeply cut by the attempted murderer, causing his brain matter and blood to spill out.
During surgery, his skull was found to be missing a piece of bone 3cm by 2cm wide, and his pupils had dilated. The hospital issued a notice of imminent death. He was kept in the ICU for 13 days and had 10 liters of blood transfused.
By his own account, during his coma, he was brought to the gates of hell. A guard told him that his life was not yet complete and ordered that he be brought back to life. He thought it was a result of him quitting the Young Pioneers, an associated organization of the CCP, at the advice of his father––a Falun Dafa practitioner.
The man received a third-degree disability designation, as he was not able to care for himself. He suffered two brain symptom relapses and had to be hospitalized each time.
Later, he learned Falun Dafa from his father and his brain function fully recovered soon after. He even participated in the local regional driver's training class and excelled during the final exam.
A Construction Worker Paralyzed from Falling Off a Roof
Mr. Yuan Yanming, a construction worker of the Daxinganling region in Heilongjiang Province, fell off a roof while working in March 2000. He landed face up and ended up with a moderate concussion, a broken shoulder blade, a ruptured spleen, pleural effusion, and three fractured ribs. He was hospitalized for several days.
He was diagnosed later with lumbar disc herniation, disconnected lumbar spines, and a pinched sciatic nerve. His doctor told him that paralysis was in store for him in three months if he didn't undergo surgery. At the age of 40, he looked like a 70-year-old and was hopelessly bedridden. He had a mental breakdown as his family faced financial difficulty, with his child's tuition to be paid and the elderly to be cared for.
A Falun Dafa practitioner brought him a copy of Zhuan Falun in 2003. Initially he could not sit up and had to read the book while lying down. Before long, he could sit up and read it. Later, he was able to stand up to do the exercises. His coworkers, neighbors, family, and friends were amazed by his recovery and the healing power of Falun Dafa.
The Story of a Lay Buddhist
Mr. Liu Ji, a lay Buddhist of Jilin City, Jilin Province, was buried under a fallen wall while helping a relative demolish a house. His third lumbar disc was fractured, causing him unbearable pain. After being hospitalized for seven days, his doctor released him and told him that his best bet was to walk with a cane for the rest of his life. He sought out various forms of treatment, and even traveled all the way to Sichuan Province for a qigong healing session, but had no success at all.
He obtained a copy of Zhuan Falun in 1998 but considered Falun Dafa a normal form of qigong; therefore, he didn't take it seriously.
One day, as he was worshiping a Buddha statue at home, he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He thought to himself, “If Falun Dafa is a righteous practice, my aching leg should be healed.”
To his amazement, his wish was granted and his leg was cured, which led him to devote himself to studying Zhuan Falun. He realized that all the principles that he had enlightened to in his years in Buddhism were explained in the first section of the book; on top of that, he found the answers to many questions that he'd had for a long time.
After he became a Falun Dafa practitioner, many of his illnesses, including the lingering effects from the accident––stomach ache, kidney disease, and frozen shoulders––were cured. His family members stepped into the practice themselves after witnessing his dramatic changes.
Able to Walk After Being Crushed by a Metal Crane
Mr. Sun Xueqing, a villager of Huanghuadian Township, Tianjin, was hit by a metal frame falling from a crane in December 2002. The effects of this blow included breathing difficulties, broken ribs and a broken pelvic bone, ruptured intestines and arteries, and a renal contusion. The local hospital issued a notice of critical condition and impending death.
When he woke up, a Falun Dafa practitioner came to his hospital room and told him about Falun Dafa. His wife, who used to practice Falun Dafa, also tried to persuade him to give it a try. He made up his mind and announced that he would start practicing.
Soon, wondrous things followed. He had over thirty stitches on his abdomen and several tubes inserted, yet none of it hurt him at all. His intestines were just operated on, yet he could eat and digest anything without any difficulty. His hydronephrosis had no cure according to his doctor, yet his three-month follow-up exam showed that everything was back to normal. His injured pelvic bone gave him uneven legs, yet he could walk normally after 36 days. He was able to walk freely and ride a bicycle within two months.
His doctor and nurses, friends, and family all witnessed his amazing recovery. From then on, he became a peaceful, easy-going, selfless person and conducted himself based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Severe Illnesses and Disabilities
Mr. Li Guoliang from Luyi County of Henan Province suffered ankylosing spondylitis––a condition that rendered him unable to bend his spine from his sacrum to his neck. His hands and jaws could barely move, and he had to walk in tiny steps. His sleeping and bathroom routines became extremely difficult. Due to this tortuous illness, he once had a mental breakdown.
After he started practicing Falun Dafa, he could move his hands freely and eating was no longer a problem––he could open his jaws normally. More importantly his spirits were lifted. He started riding a tricycle and peddling small consumer products to make a living. Although his condition had not been completely healed and he could not ride a tricycle, he had the handles moved up so he could hold it while his upper body stayed upright.
He has been telling people about Falun Dafa. A burglar listened to his story and advice and started a new life doing small business. The local media had even reported his story. Some medical institutions wanted to carry out research on his case, as his positive changes were beyond their knowledge. The doctors who used to treat him could not believe he was still alive.
It is truly a testimony to Falun Dafa’s power that a patient with such a severe condition could turn his life around after practicing Falun Dafa.
Yet such a kind person was feared by the CCP. The local police arrested him; during the process, they pushed him around to inflict pain. After he was locked up in prison, the inmates beat him so severely that he remained bedridden for over half a year while the prison authorities turned a blind eye to this abuse.
There are many more stories like this. Mr. Li Cheng from Huanan County of Heilongjiang Province, in his 30’s, was disabled by brain tumors and thalamic hemorrhage. He was diagnosed with six brain tumors at Jiamusi City Hospital 12 years ago; his doctor determined that he had only a year and a half to live. After practicing Falun Dafa, his health gradually recovered and he could take care of himself, even making a living by farming a piece of land on his own. The CCP gave him 3 years of forced labor and later 5 years in prison for practicing Falun Dafa.
Ms. Shao Meiqin from Baotou City of Hebei Province was paralyzed for over twenty years. With the help of Falun Dafa practitioners, she started the practice herself in June 2005. Five days later, she could walk and do the five sets of exercises without her crutches. Her once-damaged hearing was healed. She no longer needed to take her numerous medications, saving nearly 10,000 yuan every year in medical expenses. Her second-oldest son came to visit her from out of town and was happily surprised to see her in great health. At a family gathering and meal, he held a glass of wine in excitement and toasted his gratitude to the founder of Falun Dafa.
Ms. Jin Yanhua, an instructor at Beihua University in Jilin Province, suffered a major complication during the birth of her child and became paralyzed and bedridden thereafter. Five months later, her husband deserted her and took her baby. In despair, she came across Falun Dafa. Since then, she has conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Her health improved––she made a full recovery soon afterwards. She could walk and go to work again. Her family and friends were happy to see her rapid transformation.
Mr. Cheng Xinguang, a resident of Heze City, Shandong Province, was born with rickets in 1944 and has had a humped back ever since. After practicing Falun Dafa, he could stand upright for the first time in his life. Many fellow villagers witnessed the power of Falun Dafa and some even started practicing themselves. A police officer who knew him said, “He used to have a hunchback. Now he is standing up straight, and I hardly recognize him. Falun Dafa is truly amazing.” Mr. Cheng was sentenced to four years in prison in 2007 for his practice and was tortured in Tai’an Prison.
