(Minghui.org) Ms. Gong Xiuying's family recently learned from an insider that she was secretly tried on July 29, 2019 for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Gong, a resident of Chongqing, was arrested on November 12, 2018 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was sent to Huayan Detention Center, where she has since been denied family visits.
It was reported that the prosecutor at one point returned her case to the police for more evidence. Ms. Gong's family gathered that the police must have fabricated additional evidence against her, as her case was eventually accepted.
The judge at Jiulongpo District Court never informed her family of her court hearing. Her family only received a call in July 2019 asking whether they were hiring any lawyer to represent Ms. Gong.
As her family had trouble finding a lawyer willing to enter a not guilty plea for her, Ms. Gong acted as her own lawyer and defended her right to practice and spread information about Falun Gong.
It was reported that Ms. Gong's case was recently submitted to Chongqing Intermediate Court. It remains to be investigated what the lower court's decision was.
