(Minghui.Org) The persecution of Falun Gong has been ongoing for 20 years. Practitioners in China have persevered in raising awareness of the persecution to the world despite the threat of arrest, detention, and torture. As a result, not only have many people awakened, even some perpetrators involved in the persecution have also changed their attitude toward Falun Gong.
In July 2019, two elderly practitioners were distributing Falun Gong material and talking to people about the persecution in a city in Guangdong Province when a man grabbed one of them and called the police. The officers arrived twenty minutes later and took her to a police station.
The officers searched the practitioner's bag and demanded to know her name, address, and the sources of the materials. She only replied, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner,” and refused to answer any other questions. The policemen grew frustrated and yelled at her. They ended up calling the head of the 610 Office, an extralegal agency tasked with eradicating Falun Gong and given power to override the judicial system.
When the 610 Office head arrived, he recognized the Falun Gong practitioner and said, “Oh, it's you again! You can practice at home, because we really do not want to arrest you...” He turned around and told the policemen, “Let’s not mistreat her.”
Hearing the words of the 610 Office head, the police officers softened their attitude. After they called the practitioner's family an hour later, her daughter-in-law came to take her home.
One year before this incident, some local practitioners had talked to the 610 Office head face to face about Falun Gong. He also received letters with information about Falun Gong. With all of this information, his conscience awakened and he changed his attitude towards Falun Gong. His change in turn helped more and more officers at the local police station, including the police chief, understand that Falun Gong practitioners are good, innocent people.
