Additional Persecution News from China – May 2, 2019 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 10 provinces，where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Yu Guiqing, Ms. Qin Lianyu, Ms. Ying Guofang, Ms. Shen Jinfeng, Ms. Jin Hua, and Ms. Yu were arrested on April 18, 2019. Their homes were ransacked. Some of the practitioners were released, while others are being held in the Ningbo City Detention Center.

2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zheng Shumei and Ms. Cheng Shuxiang Tried

Ms. Zheng Shumei, 50, and Ms. Cheng Shuxiang, 56, were tried in the Huaiyin District Court on March 12, 2019. Ms. Zheng and Ms. Cheng are being held in the Jinan Detention Center.

Ms. Cheng was previously taken to a forced labor camp for two years in 2001, sentenced to four years in the Shandong Province Women's Prison in 2007, and sentenced by the Changqing District Court to a year in prison on January 13, 2015.

3. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Shujuan Detained

Ms. Li Shujuan from the Guye District was arrested by officers from the Tangjiazhuang Police Station on the morning of May 1, 2019, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Li is being held in the Guye Detention Center.

4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Cang Fengying Arrested

Ms. Cang Fengying was arrested by a plainclothes officer on the afternoon of April 29, 2019, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in a supermarket. She was taken to the Dongfeng Police Station, and has since been released.

5. [Boxing County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yuzhen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yuzhen, who works for the Boxing County People's Bank, was arrested by officers from the Boxing Domestic Security Division on April 2, 2019, when she was distributing information about Falun Gong.

6. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Xu Muqun Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

The Chenghai District Court sentenced Ms. Xu Muqun to four years in prison and fined her 3,000 yuan on April 12, 2019. Ms. Xu appealed. The case was moved to the Shantou City Intermediate Court on April 16.

7. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Kang Xihua Arrested

Ms. Kang Xihua from the Qilihe District was arrested on a train to Shanghai on the evening of April 28, 2019, by agents from the District 610 Office and railroad police. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Kang and her mother's whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Xiurong and Ms. Zhang Wanxin Arrested

Ms. Liu Xiurong from Nanfan in the Guye District and Ms. Zhang Wanxin, 83, were arrested on the morning of April 29, 2019, when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at the Sigezhuang Country Fair in Luannan County.

Ms. Zhang was released that night because of her age. Ms. Liu was released the same night after she failed the physical exam.

9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Xia Arrested

Ms. Zhou Xia from Wuhan City worked in Shanghai and was arrested there recently. Her whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Qu Suying Arrested

Ms. Qu Suying was arrested.

11. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Liu Cheng and Ms. Zhang Yumei Sentenced

The Hongshan District Court sentenced Mr. Liu Cheng to two years in prison and Ms. Zhang Yumei to three years in prison on February 20, 2019.

12. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Pan Mingyue, Her Husband and Ms. Xu Lirong Arrested

Ms. Pan Yueming and her husband who live in Xinmin Village, Xinxing Township, Shuangcheng District, were arrested around April 25, 2019, by the Harbin police.

Ms. Xu Lirong, a nurse in the Shuangcheng District Hospital, was arrested on April 23, by officers from the Zhiguo Police Station. She was detained for ten days.

13. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Ren Suxiang Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Ms. Ren Suxiang was sentenced to eight years in prison on April 15, 2019.

14. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Meng Xiange Arrested

Mr. Meng Xiange was arrested on April 30, 2019, by officers from the Xinkailu Police Station while he was in the Intensive Care Unit of the Pipeline Bureau Hospital, where he was taking care of his wife.

15. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lan Lihua Develops Symptoms of Breast Cancer in Detention Center

Ms. Lan Lihua from the Sujiatun District is being held in the Shenyang No. 1 Detention Center. She was diagnosed with breast cancer while in detention. Her family requested she be released so that she could see her doctor, but the detention center and the Sujiatun Court tried to put the responsibility for her release on to each other.

Ms. Lan remains in the detention center and is not allowed to see her doctor.

16. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Mr. Hu Huailiang Arrested

Mr. Hu Huailiang from Qiaozhuang, Santa Town, Taihe County was arrested at home on April 19, 2019, by Liu Xiangzhou, head of the Domestic Security Division, and other officers. His home was ransacked.

17. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cui Rishao Abused by Police

Mr. Cui Rishoa from Kangping County was arrested by officers from the Dongguan Police Station on January 2, 2019. His home was ransacked. He was taken to the Dongguan Police Station, where Dai Guoqing, deputy director of the Kangping County Police Department, left him exposed to freezing cold temperatures for two hours. He slapped Mr. Cui's face dozens of times, and punched him in the chest four times. Mr. Cui's mouth bled as a result of the beatings. Dai ordered him not to spit the blood out and forced him to swallow it.

Mr. Cui was released on bail around January 24, 2019.
