(Minghui.org) In “Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference,” Master Li, the founder of Falun Gong, answered a disciple's question on concerns of human rights lawyers in China about our news reports.
Master said,
“We do not praise or criticize the current leadership, and this is the principle. That’s because they did not persecute Falun Gong, and their intent is not to persecute Falun Gong, either. All beings are targets to be saved, so why would we want to do anything to them? So we do not praise or criticize them. Instead, they are arresting those corrupt officials who have persecuted Falun Gong. So we have no reason to report on them negatively. Dafa disciples are saving people—not getting involved in politics.”
In this Fa teaching, Master mentioned the current regime, with a purpose to tell us that we are not ordinary people. As Dafa disciples, our mission is to save people from the maze of the human world. All we need to do is to tell them about what Falun Gong is and it is up to them to decide whether to support or oppose Falun Gong. We shall not praise or criticize the sentient beings so as to avoid creating additional difficulty for them as they make their choice.
Some fellow practitioners did not clearly understand the above passage of the Fa. They instead became obsessed with the current regime and hope it'd help end the persecution of Falun Gong.
The arrest of corrupt officials is actually retribution for their persecution of Falun Gong, though on the surface it appeared to be that the current regime passed some laws and regulations to restrict law enforcement officers and government officials and hold them accountable for corruption.
Some practitioners did not rationally point out the above facts when they clarified the truth to the police. Instead, they tried to signal to the police that Chinese president Xi Jinping wasn't really on board with the persecution policy. These practitioners were disappointed when the police officers said they would not have dared to persecute Falun Gong practitioners without Xi's order.
Those practitioners' pinning hope on the current regime or someone within the regime thus failed to make the police understand the consequences and harm of their continued persecution of Falun Gong.
Any change in the human world is a portion of the cosmic climate change. It reflects the progress of the Fa-rectification. In other words, the change will come after the practitioners remove human notions and improve cultivation levels, and when sentient beings are saved. We cannot just count on the current regime in China or the United States government to make the change.
Some practitioners always like to discuss what someone in the current regime or the United States president can do. Even if those leaders can do something, it is because the things must happen in this world due to the cosmic climate change and it is their historic mission to make things happen. They are not cultivators. So they certainly must have some limitations in handling the issues.
We all know that Master has repeatedly extended the time for us due to our failure to remove human notions and to look at problems and become mature on the basis of the Fa and reach the standard of consummation. While we all are talking about how much sacrifice Master has made to extend the time for us to cultivate, how can we count on everyday people? If we still have human notions, we will be interfered with by the old forces and interrupt Master's arrangement of Fa-rectification.
Master taught us,
“What I’m trying to tell you is that you need to transform your human mindset as well. That is, in your daily life or understanding of the Fa, you really can no longer approach it with a human mindset, and you must not understand the Fa with those human substances that you firmly hold on to and don’t discard. The surface meaning of “Take the Middle Way” is 'don’t go to extremes.'” (Lecture at the First Conference in North America)

“You're cultivators, and all changes come from your cultivation and the Fa-rectification; everything that you yourselves validate and enlighten to, and everything that you'll receive, all this comes from what you have done on your path. Absolutely don't think about any favors the old forces might do for us, or about how the ordinary society might help us. and
“Since you're Dafa disciples, you shouldn't put your hopes in so-called 'natural' changes, external changes, changes in the ordinary society, or in some favors that someone might do for us. You are Gods, and you are the future rulers of different cosmoses, so who would you count on? All the beings are counting on you! To people in the current regime or those in the United States government, we only tell them the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their future will depend upon their attitude towards Falun Gong. We should not artificially make difficulty for them as they weigh whether to support or oppose Falun Gong.
